If Canelo can wipe out Kovalev we have to consider him beating everyone at LHW

I feel Canelo will do it

He can beat Kova, but not Beterbiev vs Gvozdyk winner.

For sure to me if he can smash Kovalev he shouldn't be written off vs anyone at LHW. I mean Kov was up 5-1 in the first Eledier fight and in the rematch pretty much shut out Alvarez (who was a top 5 contender even before he fought Kov), and knocked out a strong young guy in Yarde.

Why do people act like Kov's a total corpse? Bashing him early is still easily one of the best wins at the weight.

In both of those fights he was perpetually vulnerable. Alvarez is the best body puncher in the sport and he has a great chin
Kov would starch beterbiev.

I thought he pretty much cakewalked the Alvarez rematch. And he was winning the first handily. He was in trouble vs Yarde but overall was well ahead and then got the KO. I mean it's not like anyone, even solid contenders, are just breezing through him. If Canelo does that it's a really good win and I don't see how he can be written off vs anyone at LHW.

Kovalyov is imo too big, hits too hard, and is still a good enough boxer for Canelo... Kovalyov by 117-111 or 116-112 type of decision, maybe a late KO/stoppage (but Canelo has an excellent chin so i doubt so) or Canelo by robbery.

There’s are reason Canelo has only mentioned Kovalev and not other LHW champions. Sure, Kovalev is still one of the top dogs at LHW and a belt holder, but he’s past his prime now. He’s definitely not at his best anymore. We have seen Kov gets tired around mid way, depending on how he boxes. Canelo has obviously seen something there where he thinks he can win.

Canelo has never knocked out a good opponent. in last 4 years, he KO'ed Fielding, in a total mismatch as Fielding is Euro-level at best, Liam Smith who is nothing special too, and a chinny Khan. that's all. Of course, Canelo's body shots are decent, and Kovalyov's body seems vulnerable, but i am not sure that the impact of Canelo's punches will be decent enough at LHW.

Golovkin, Jacobs, Cotto, Chavez, Lara, Mosley, Trout, they all went distance. Kovalyov getting knocked out by Canelo, especially in 4 rounds, seems very unlikely.

I also think that Kovalyov will be in a better shape than in the Yarde fight.

He looked much worse than in his previous fight, arguably the worst since he became a champ. He looked very old, vulnerable, slow, he had conditioning problems (not a new thing in his case though), he won this fight vs the young, unexperienced Brit mostly due to his superior technical skills and very decent power.

Canelo couldn't defeat Golovkin and he struggled vs Jacobs, i don't see how he is a favourite vs Kovalyov at LHW.

Because he isn't that strong mentally. Even if they bring up Ward, Canelo is the type of fighter that would've responded differently to low blows.

I think it's more a physical fragility, though I see what you mean, but still despite that no one has ever just breezed through him and he has been competitive in all his fights.
