Canelo Alvarez vs Andre Ward

Post by diddy »

Murmurings that Ward may be enticed financially to come out of retirement to face Canelo if he beats Kovalev. Very interesting. I'll believe it when I see it from Canelo's end. His team is making calculated moves. Fighting Ward would suggest they calculate serious rust.

Ward more or less said he doubted Canelo had the balls to fight him on Max on Boxing.

His exact words were "I just don't think he or Oscar would do that. I don't think they'd mention my name"

Which was basically his way of saying he don't want none of this.

And yeah...he probably don't.

Andre Ward retired because of injuries, since he claimed his body could "no longer put up with the rigors of the sport."

There is an awful lot of conjecture in this post.

Canelo would have a speed advantage and Ward has zero chances to stop him. A ref wouldn't let Ward to foul against him and then judges would give him a decision.

I suppose there is, but saying "I don't think they'd call me out" basically is saying. They don't want to fight me wouldn't you think?

Now as for Canelo and his team's thoughts. Yeah that was purely a guess.

Ward would get about 25M to fight Canelo. I honestly think this fight happens as it would do huge box office PPV numbers. It was one thing for Ward to walk away from 5M fights. Its another to walk away from 25M for one fight. I think it happens.

Last time I saw a Ward interview. He said he was a rock solid 205.
No way is this fight happening. If Ward comes back it's at cruiser

It won't happen, Ward is too smart for that. If it happened, Canelo would have probably scored a win over rusty and crippled Ward. Prime-vs-prime Ward was better though.

The outcome of this fight (the first time in the boxing history) - the both fighters are winners by UD.
