Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - OFF
Joe Joyce has been ordered to face Marco Huck for the vacant European heavyweight title.
The 34-year-old can extend his unbeaten record to 11 victories against Huck, a former WBO cruiserweight champion, with purse bids ordered for October 10, if a deal cannot be reached between both fighters.
Agit Kabayel was the previous European champion, but decided to vacate the belt after signing a promotional deal with Top Rank.
Joyce continues his fast-moving career, having already claimed the Commonwealth belt in just his fourth bout, and he defeated former world title challenger Bryant Jennings on points in his last fight in July.
Huck has moved up to heavyweight after failing to regain his WBO belt in a stoppage loss to Oleksandr Usyk in the quarter-finals of the World Boxing Super Series.

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - Ordered by EBU
I would expect Joyce to walk through Huck - Huck is way past his best, way out-sized and doesn't have the defence to keep Lurch off him
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - Ordered by EBU
Easy belt for Joyce. Maybe we'll seee Joyce vs Dubs sooner rather than later.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - Ordered by EBU
The EBU ordering it and Huck agreeing to it are two different things. Unless there's good money in it for Huck, why would he accept it? If he's building up for another run at a title, there are easier ways to go.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - Ordered by EBU
This might look similar, albeit slightly more competitive, to that of Miller v Adamek

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - Ordered by EBU
Ofcourse.. Huck has had what 1 or 2 fights at HW since Usyk..
He hasn't really made any moves. He's surely a world class boxer, no doubt about that. EBU want him to fight at Euro level..
What does he do.. Unless he's got plans, I say he let's FW win a daft purse bid and get paid.
Surely, his experience can work in his favour... Although I don't see it either.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - Ordered by EBU
Huck is past it, but still he has power and can trouble hittable Joyce.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - Ordered by EBU
I don't mind the matchup, but "ordered by EBU" seems a little odd.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - Ordered by EBU
I'm indifferent. I really like Joyce but had decent seats at the Dubois-Gorman card and was so underwhelmed by Joe's big step up against Bryant Jennings that I'm still yet to watch the fight back on Youtube. I never followed Huck all that much? Wouldn't he be shot to bits by now?
I'd hoped for better fights for Joyce at this point.

Huck is only 34 but has been a pro since 19. Frankly, he has no business being in the ring with Joyce. He'll get shattered to bits.clopixolacuphase wrote: ↑27 Sep 2019, 17:36 I'm indifferent. Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - Ordered by EBU
He is.
Totally Splattered.
Huck is almost like an older, slower, smaller, shot version of The Juggernaut.
At his best he would roll over more skilled opponents with sheer physicality.
That style is eyeroll-emoji-stupid against Joyce, plus he's about 100 in fight years now.
Huck has only two possible strategies..,
- Befuddle Joyce with a constant lateral movement and win by back-foot stylist's masterclass. Even against Joyce a leopard can't change his spots THAT much, so it's gotta be..,
2 - Get in first - or get lucky - in a brief, violent shootout.
It should be a great fight while it lasts.
Edit: Did I just write SLOWER ?!
NObody is slower, I meant even more robotic and stiff.

I'm all for picking up another belt but I hope this gets streamlined. Get a date soon. Shortish camp. Bang it out in under 5 rounds, then be back fighting early 2020.
But if it gose to purse bids they get delayed or some shit, then a 12 week camp and we end up waiting till Feb or March next year for this the. That's too much time to waste for 34 year old Joyce for a euro belt.

I've no objections to this matchup.
If Huck takes the fight, it's got "punch-up" written all over it

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - Ordered by EBU
Joe can't afford to take this type of fight too often, but it should be bloody exciting while it lasts and that won't hurt his reputation.
I like the trajectory path Joyce is on and think it should only keep getting better.
Could it be Dubois after or a solid EBU title defence or a top ten contender (or thereabouts) ?

Another easy win for Joyce against an "has been", on paper.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - Ordered by EBU
Huck's team won the bid. Implies they're taking it.
Joyce's team said they'll go to Germany for it aswell.
Hopefully it's done soon.

That adds a bit more intrigue to the fight.

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - Ordered by EBU
Two big offers shook the EBU offices in Rome, Italy, at today’s purse bid as former longtime WBO cruiserweight beltholder Marco Huck, 34, and 2016 Olympic silver-medallist destroyer Joe Joyce, 34, are set to collide for the vacant European heavyweight title.
Huck’s German venture Huck Service put in the envelope the amount of 480,000 Euros, topping another strong offer of 358,000 Euros made by UK’s Queensberry Promotions. The winning offer will have to be split 50/50, being the two men co-challengers after former titlist Agit Kabayel vacated.
Huck (41-5-1, 28 KOs), a two-time European champion, won the continental belt in 2006 and 2008 respectively before moving on to chase world level challenges. The powerful Joyce (10-0, 9 KOs) is coming from a competitive twelve-round victory over Philadelphia’s Bryant Jennings at London’s O2 Arena last July, and will arguably be the stronger, fresher man of the pair.

£207k for Joe Joyce on a 50/50 split..
Why not..

We take a punt we get home advantage.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - Ordered by EBU
Seems a big figure to pay out, Huck probably has a TV deal lined up to fund it given the absolute dearth of German talent currently.

Typical British promoters, always losing purse bids...
Huck beat him.. But yeh, like you said, probably has a deal with a tv channel.. Also, BT will probably have first dibs on it in the UK.

The channel that offers up the most money will. The German promoter don’t give a fu ck about old Franky boy. All he will care about now is recouping the money he’s forked our to pay the boxers.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑16 Oct 2019, 11:37Typical British promoters, always losing purse bids...

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Marco Huck - Ordered by EBU
Joyce's resume is impressive already and now travelling to Germany to try and claim the prestigious European title from the home favourite is equally impressive.
I'll be glued to the TV when watching this potential barnstormer. No heavyweight seems to throw more punches than Joe and Marco is known for his wild combinations
