WBSS Bantamweight Final: Naoya Inoue vs. Nonito Donaire - 7 November 2019
Japan’s ‘Monster’ Naoya Inoue (18-0, 16 KOs) and legendary Filipino-American Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire (40-5, 26 KOs) clash for the 118lb Ali Trophy at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan on November 7.
Comosa AG, the organiser of the World Boxing Super Series, is delighted to travel to Japan for the bantamweight final.
“The Muhammad Ali Trophy and the best production in boxing arrive in the Land of the Rising Sun for a huge spectacle,” said Kalle Sauerland, Comosa’s Chief Boxing Officer. “Two bonafide superstars are going to find out who is the very best in the division and bring home the Ali Trophy.
“Inoue has proved why he is called the Monster, he is a freak of nature, his power from another planet, and the already iconic Donaire, who produced one of the knockouts of the year in his semi-final, is looking as strong as ever in the twilight of his career.
“What a duel, what a conclusion and what an arena. We simply can’t wait to see who of these gladiators will lift the Trophy on November 7!”
“I can’t wait for the final,” said Inoue. “Donaire is to me a legend in the sport of boxing, and I am honoured to be sharing the ring with him in the final. But I will do my very best to win against the legend to claim the Ali trophy.”
Said Mr. Ohashi, Inoue’s promoter: “Inoue is known as The Monster' and Nonito Donaire is a legend in the sport. I have always felt these two were destined to fight in the ring. It will be a spectacular finale of a great tournament."
Donaire won his quarter-final, as tournament No 1. seed Ryan Burnett was forced to retire from after four rounds of action due to a lower back injury. And the 36-year-old scored a stunning one-punch 6th round knockout of American Stephon Young in the semi-final; a devastating left hook put Young down and out – after the original opponent, Zolani Tete, had to pull out with a shoulder injury only days before the bout.
Donaire said before watching Inoue’s semi-final against Emmanuel Rodriguez: “Inoue has always supported me in this tournament and we have an unspoken thing that we wanted to face each other in the final.”
On November 7 at the Saitama Super Arena, one of the largest indoor arenas in the world, just north of Tokyo, it’s Judgement Day for the ‘Monster’ and ‘The Filipino Flash’.
“I am looking forward to the final in Japan and a great fight,“ said Donaire. “I have fought several world champions, and I will come well prepared. Inoue is an amazing fighter, but I saw flaws in his semi-final, and I think I can definitely create a game plan against him and win the Ali Trophy.”
Said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Ringstar Sports, Donaire's promoter: “November 7 will be a monstrous night for boxing! They call Inoue ‘The Monster’ but Nonito Donaire is undefeated at bantamweight. He is the real Monster and will yet again show the world why he is a true legend of the sport!

Donaire will land big at some point early and then get stopped badly, that’s my prediction.
Wanted to go to this but I couldn’t afford it in the end. Takuma, Naoya’s little brother, fights Oubaali for WBC Bantam on the undercard, is the both win Tete will be the only champ at the weight not named Inoue. There was another good fight on the card, I’ve forgot.

Donaire has lots experience against guys like Inoue, whom can win in spectacular KO fashion, but has hardly been proven.
Re: WBSS Bantamweight Final: Naoya Inoue vs. Nonito Donaire - 7 November 2019
I think he’s very proven. 3 weight WC and fought consistently top level competition. I know what you’re saying and Nonito will probably be his best win, but everyone said McDonnell was a big step up for him

"Hardly been proven"
Re: WBSS Bantamweight Final: Naoya Inoue vs. Nonito Donaire - 7 November 2019
Never fought the real top, though, or that kind of undefeated "fresh" guys beside Rodriguez in recent times. You can call Nery a cheat, but nevertheless, despite being overweight, he still savaged Yamanaka, not a drained McDonnell
Re: WBSS Bantamweight Final: Naoya Inoue vs. Nonito Donaire - 7 November 2019
Narvaez and Hernandez were both #1 in the division when he knocked them out and Taguchi went on to be a two weight champ. He fought an unbeaten top 5 guy in Rodriguez and absolutely smoked him. I’ll agree to disagree mate
I think Inoue-Nery would be my favourite fight to make in all of boxing. I hope Naoya stays at bantam and fights everyone.
Will he be proven after Donaire?

Good points. Yes, it definetely will be.Delta Jay wrote: ↑12 Oct 2019, 18:23Narvaez and Hernandez were both #1 in the division when he knocked them out and Taguchi went on to be a two weight champ. He fought an unbeaten top 5 guy in Rodriguez and absolutely smoked him. I’ll agree to disagree mate

Re: WBSS Bantamweight Final: Naoya Inoue vs. Nonito Donaire - 7 November 2019
I don’t really like this fight because I really like Nonito, and I reckon he takes too many punches these days and should’ve retired a few years ago. And he is probably gonna get hit by some hellacious shots and with such a great chin that can be dangerous for a boxer near the end of his career.
And weirdly I also don’t like his fight because he packs one hell of a shot himself, and could somehow upset one of the most exciting fighters we have at the moment...even though his best years were 6/7 years ago
I would have much preferred any of the other favourites to be meeting the monster next weekend.....

I really want him to fight Tete and Nery. And Oubaali and Burnet.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑23 Oct 2019, 15:01 I don’t really like this fight because I really like Nonito, and I reckon he takes too many punches these days and should’ve retired a few years ago. Can anyone confirm Sky has picked this up?Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑23 Oct 2019, 07:06They should be. WBSS partnered up with Matchroom so Sky can show it.
Hope they haven't blown their budget on Canelo Kovalev and that YouTube rubbish..
For ref. it's not listed on their website, although cards taking place after it are..

Inoue is a phenomenon and I doubt Donaire will halt his advance. He presents something different with his experience and punch power but The Monster is one of the very best.

Am I right in saying that this will be on early afternoon in the UK on Thursday 7th November? Seem to remember Inoue v McDonnell being on at like 1/1.30pm, not sure if this will be similar. Surprised no announcement has been made by Sky yet.

Anyone have any UK TV info on this, I keep checking Sky's schedule and their general boxing news pages and there's no mention of it.
I know Sky brought the Semi final broadcast rights, just kinda hoped they's follow that up with (all) the finals .
Be a real shame if we don't get any coverage of this over here.
