The guy who beat him was on hunger strike at the time. It would go on to become known as ‘cutting weight’

Notice he's around five years older than Floyd so Patterson must have been very young when they fought.

What I am saying is that you state he had four professional fights. Where did you get this information? Boxrec? The record doesn't look complete to me.
A quick search turned up a Chicago Tribune report on his death which states that he turned pro, then his career was interrupted by a stint in the marines in Korea. After he returned to Boxing and went 7-1 before turning to coaching.

Despite the information in the obituary, I do think the record as we have it is probably complete. Chicago has been pretty well researched for those years and California too for that matter.
