Are we already nearing the end of the Wilder-Fury-Aj era
I noticed when looking over things that Wilder is already 35 next year, I swear it was not long ago he was a fresh faced upcoming young generation guy
We have that, Fury seemingly more into wrestling and saying 3 more fights tops, AJ has questions over committment and desire (esp if loses again)
Has this generation/era almost passed us by already?

Now days boxers at the top can’t even take one loss.. they can’t come back stronger.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑26 Oct 2019, 01:32 I noticed when looking over things that Wilder is already 35 next year, I swear it was not long ago he was a fresh faced upcoming young generation guy

Damn shame.. AJ said he can box for another 10 years, he said that 2 years ago..
Also, 35 isn’t really that old for a boxer.. he doesn’t look old either.
Another 3 years for each is what? 6 more fights each?
Do AJ-Wilder ever fight? Who knows..
Re: Are we already nearing the end of the Wilder-Fury-Aj era
Biggest load of my arse ever if these 3 never end up fighting.
And why not?
And why not?

I like Joshua, he's a credit to the sport and is a genuinely good role model for young kids. He has proved that you don't need fake beef to sell a fight.. All that said, even if he does beat Ruiz, Usyk will dominate him and he will need to stop Fury to beat him. After his next liss he'll have a couple of years off and work his way back up.

Yeah I can see Usyk wrecking the party. No doubt Wilder and Fury will stare at the pay cheque for a fight against him compared to vs Joshua and maybe wish they bit the bullet instead of f ucking around.
Re: Are we already nearing the end of the Wilder-Fury-Aj era
I mean it won't forever last as a 3 headed Champion type situation, and hell that may come to a complete end in December if Joshua fails again against Ruiz, but I can't imagine these 3 won't continue to be Top contenders for quite a while to come as long as they wanna keep at it.
I mean honestly the smart thing for any fighter to do is to stop at a certain point with all you rmarbles still intact. How much money do you really need ya know.
I figure they'll all still be active for at least 3 or 4 more years. Where they'll be who can say, but I'll bet they'll be Top 10 at the very least.
If Joshua were to lose again to Ruiz though it wouldn't be unlikely that he completely kinda unravels from there due to confidence issues or something.
Interesting time for Heavyweight Boxing.

They'll have the look that Holyfield had on his face when Douglas beat Tyson .jameswilson wrote: ↑26 Oct 2019, 04:27 Yeah I can see Usyk wrecking the party. When AJ is gone people will realize what a phenomenon he was at the box office. No other active British boxer could sell so many tickets against the likes of Povetlkun and Pulev/Takam. Even if Fury rematched Wilder in UK, it wouldn't fill Wembley.they'll miss him when he's gone.

Of course they have, but it was a draw and they’re dragging their feet to go again. You know what I mean.

I predict one of the next gen comes along and if these three stick around, he’ll build his name off beating a couple or even all three of them and go on to become quite dominant.

Yes, a bit anticlimactic unless it seriously livens up next year.

Re: Are we already nearing the end of the Wilder-Fury-Aj era
Part of the problem is, at various stages, all three have been massively overrated.
Joshua losing to Ruiz is an awful result.
Wilder is very average and Fury has his flaws and couldn’t beat Wilder ( not convincingly by any stretch ) and I’ll never forget him losing to McDermott!
Dubois needs to hurry up and beat all three and get heavyweight boxing back to being about boxing matches and not everything but...

Agreed, AJ should have fought Wilder last year. Well done to Fury for stepping up. Plus the way he did it. All that hot air at the start of 2018 - We sent them the contract blah blah. Fury - Alright, I‘ll fight him.

Who’s gonna do that? Phillip fornicating Hrgovic?lillywhite14 wrote: ↑26 Oct 2019, 06:43 I predict one of the next gen comes along and if these three stick around, he’ll build his name off beating a couple or even all three of them and go on to become quite dominant.

Re: Are we already nearing the end of the Wilder-Fury-Aj era
I have seen so many eras come and go in my lifetime, in all weight divisions. As far as HW boxing goes nothing tops Ali/Frazier for me. My Father used to say there is always a young gun waiting in the wings ready to take over, and there usually was. AJ will lose again against Ruiz and retire. Fury and Ruiz will never fight each other and Fury may quit boxing for good. As for Wilder I cant see him being around for too much longer so I have to agree this HW era is coming to an end.
Re: Are we already nearing the end of the Wilder-Fury-Aj era
Whatever happens from here they have had great careers. DAZN, Showtime etc throwing daft money at them. Rich beyond their wildest dreams. Put it this way, if their latest financial report is anything to go by the DAZN could be over before the current heavyweight era with these three.

Dubois stands much better chance than Hrgovic. Give him 18 months and he’ll punch their lights out if they’re still aboutDelta Jay wrote: ↑26 Oct 2019, 07:03Who’s gonna do that? Good. The lack of top guys fighting will mean it goes down as a terrible era when it could have been remembered as a half decent one. History won't be kind.WildWaylon wrote: ↑26 Oct 2019, 07:38 I have seen so many eras come and go in my lifetime, in all weight divisions. As far as HW boxing goes nothing tops Ali/Frazier for me. Bring on the next gen. Though they'll probably fall into the same trap. Promoters protecting their cash cows is boxing's poison.
Re: Are we already nearing the end of the Wilder-Fury-Aj era
If Joshua doesn't get his belts back then there won't have been an era, hopefully we get Wilder/Fury 2 unless Fury decides to be a wrestler now
Re: Are we already nearing the end of the Wilder-Fury-Aj era
AJ will KO Ruiz, Ruiz is the guy who is overrated.

Re: Are we already nearing the end of the Wilder-Fury-Aj era
wilder's caricature of a heavyweight"reign" is over anyways. he lost already to fury.
he would've lost to ortiz without the gifted breather at the most crucial moment when he was practically out on his feet.
ortiz will knock him out clean in the rematch in my opinion but if not and by pure corruption & unrightfully so he again will still keep his belt than fury will definitely fvck him up in the rematch* no way fury will let them cheat him again.
whyte would beat him 100% and in brutal fashion. wilder is plain scared of that fight. no 2 ways about that, being no1 mandatory for an frikkin eternity and not getting the fight.

Wilder is a young 34/35 in boxing terms and power punchers last longer. ALthough his injury bug may undermine his career. With AJ we'll have to wait for December 7 to see if he goes on or not. He loses and I feel his career is over. Fury's time has been in question for me for months now and the WWE fiasco solidifies my feelings that he's losing his drive in boxing. I hope the three of them and Ruiz last another year or two to give the next round of prospects the time to enter the discussion. DDD; Efe: even Makhmudov, Jalalov, and Sirenko. Hrgovic just doesn't impress me. DDD seems to be the best of that bunch.

When Fury didn't want an immediate rematch with Wilder I doubted his drive in the sport.oogiebe wrote: ↑26 Oct 2019, 14:04 Wilder is a young 34/35 in boxing terms and power punchers last longer. Re: Are we already nearing the end of the Wilder-Fury-Aj era
I don't really buy the Wilder being a young 35 talk. His game is very much based around his fantastic athletic ability. It's the main reason he has ben able to get away with that wind milling style of his. He's peaked in my opinion.
I guess he'll get past Ortiz, but he's going to struggle with Fury.
My main concern with Fury was that his lifestyle had old manned him, but he showed that wasn't the case against Wilder. Everything since that fight has been questionable. His last fight was a bit of a shocker, and the whole wrestling thing is cheddar.
Joshua losing to Ruiz is one of the most embarrassing things I have seen in a boxing ring. I know Ruiz is no mug, but not in a million years should Joshua be losing that fight. It'll will forever taint his standing.
I've kinda lost interest in the big three.
