Haney defends his WBC Lightweight title against 12-0 Santiago on the YouTube card, there's been a lot been said about how Haney got his title, it's a farce but it is what it is, he's not the first world champ to get his title via Email, Quigg and Burns did as well and plenty more, WBC are just a joke and are getting worse by the looks of things
Still this fight, never heard of Santiago but his records surprisingly sold, already has wins over Jonathan Victor Barros and Jayson Velez, i thought Haney was just class against Abdullaev, totally busted him up and broke him down before the halfway stage
Probably the best fight on the card actually

Re: Devin Haney vs Alfredo Santiago
Getting a world title fight after 12 fights seems a recurring trend , I hope this fella is a worthy contender .

Really Haney and this guy are pretty similar as far as pro experience, just that Haney got the belt. It's almost like two prospects fighting, Haney does look outstanding though and though I've not seen Santiago (does have a decent record for 12 fights) you'd think Haney should win. Haney could well beat Loma already IMO

Re: Devin Haney vs Alfredo Santiago
119-108 Haney, I gave Santiago the 2nd but a clear if unconvincing performance from Haney, I'm not sure if he hurt his right hand/arm as he only threw it sparingly, I hated this fight more than Saunders/Coceres, Haney obviously never dropped as many rounds as Saunders but as far as entertainments concerned I just didn't like this fight at all, the knockdown in the 5th was the only real bit of quality, 2 chopping rights followed by a left sent Santiago down and he looked hurt but he regrouped well and never looked like being stopped after
Just heard Haney post fight say he dislocated his shoulder which explains a lot, he relied mostly on jabs and lead hooks, the styles just didn't gel, credit to Santiago though I think he might be decent , he's sharp, tall and awkward , he lost wide here but against a very good fighter, Haney just had one of those nights and it shows theres no rush

I don't think Haney cares tremendous power. He seems a little over hyped to me. Hes only 20 but hes miles away from people like Loma atm
