Fights that upset the applecart..

Post by Stuarty »

In terms of going the opposite way of the broadcaster... I just watched the DLH/Pac fight from 2008 and that didn't go to the stations plans! I remember Harrison defending against Michael Brodie years ago and Sky were clearly pro Brodie...

Wasn't Hatton vs DLH practically set if DLH beat Pacquiao.

I think DLH Mayweather rematch was meant to happen afterwards if all went to plan wasn't it?

Bentt - Morrison

Vic Ortiz was meant to be a bit of a super prospect, the next golden boy, and Maidana was coming off a loss to Kotelnik

I don't think anyone in their right mind picked Vivian Harris to lose to Carlos Maussa, certainly not in the way he did. I don't think anyone expected Maussa to fight like he did, completely wild.

Baldomir vs Judah was another, I don't recall anyone picking him to win but Judah was definitely looking beyond that fight to the Mayweather showdown which was scheduled.

I remember the morning after that fight, watching SSN and Jim White saying... 'hitting a man when he's down, i'll need to have a word with him later'...

Brodie was well past it when he fought Harrison. From what I remember Harrison was fighting regularly as Sky's main feather.

Ya Harrison was the favourite, the upsets were Harrison losing to Medina and drawing luckily with Polo and getting stopped by Matthews and drawing with Fernandez :oo

:TU: Really enjoyed that fight, it’s rare you see anyone hurt or dropped in women’s boxing, that was a very pleasant change.

Ray Mercer vs Jessie Ferguson.

Holyfield vs Tyson.

Lewis vs Rahman - not just the result but the laywers affected the aftermath..... remember King had announced Rahman's first defence vs David Izon and then it was going to be Rahman vs Tyson.

Kiko Martinez beating Bernard Dunne in around 90 seconds. Huge crowd were absolutely stunned. Dunne contested the knockdowns and the stoppage  did he think they were all slips?
