Your ideal 2020 for the heavyweight division?

Post by Tuan_Jim »

I expect Joshua to get knocked out badly on the Dunes next weekend, so working on that assumption my ideal 2020 would see Wilder rematch Fury in the spring.

Fury has more talent in his little finger than Wilder does in his whole body, but at 6’9’’ and 260lbs the Bronze Bomber should, if he throws more, catch and KO his humongous target this time around.

Ruiz in the meantime milks his belts with a voluntary against Dillian Whyte; I think Ruiz KOs Whyte, whatever the latter’s drug status, but it would be an action fight.

That could set up a summer unification but it’s never that simple. So Wilder makes a volitional against the battle-damaged Joshua, resulting in a highlight reel KO that puts the whole silly AJ hype train behind us. Maybe Ruiz has a gimme on the undercard. Hunter Jr would be nice.

Wrap up with a Christmas unification where the talent of Ruiz wins out over the crazy right hand of Wilder. Year ends with a little fat man standing atop a mangled heap of giants.

By 2021 Usyk should perhaps be ready to step in and save us, as I think the amusement of having a fat snicker chomping Mexican as heavyweight champ will have worn off.

How would your ideal 2020 in the heavyweights play out?

Your ideal is really generous to fat Andy. Who'd thought a guy complaining so much about HWs being fat and out of shape would be cheering on Mr. Tits

I'd rather AJ smack him up in the rematch, to get some excitment back over AJ vs Wilder or Fury again. Wilder and Fury settle their score, AJ builds back more momentum with another win, then the Wilder-Fury winner fights AJ for it all.

I've become a chubby chaser.

Think if AJ wins Hearn will drag things out interminably with cynical gimmes in Wales, and AJ will probably slip up against one of them anyway and blow the big fight again.

AJ, fresh off a loss against Ruiz in Saudi Arabia, is set up for slaughter against Wilder but earns redemption by KOing the WBC champ in three. Fury, who had taken a fight with Zhang whayshisname in China for a gazillion dollars and knocked out the man from China, is then set up with Ruiz for the chance to win back the belts he gave away after the Klitscho fight. He dazzles the Mexican American in London, winning a UD including a KD in the twelfth.
Usyk beats Chisora and Kownacki and is mandatory for both Joshua and Fury.
David Price wins the Commonwealth and British titles and retires a happy man.
DDD and Joe Joyce face each other, as do Agabi and Hrgovic.

Style wise I don't think Ruiz has a hope against Fury.
Wilders has a punchers chance against anyone.

My ideal but never gunna happen senario is AJ beats ruiz 2019

then 2020 has usyk vs wilder and AJ vs fury early 2020 and then winners fight for top dog later 2020.

id also love to see
-whyte vs Parker rematch see how that gose without the headclash/but.
-pulev vs povetkin, loser retires > winner vs ortiz, loser of that retires and winner stays relevent.
-Chisora vs ruiz (if ruiz loses to AJ)
-Joyce vs kownaki (394995 punches thrown if no early KO)
-Then all the prosepects, dubious, hrgovic, gorman, ejagba, bakoli, ect ect to each fight an aging world class fighter early 2020, then the prospects that win start fighting each other mid/late 2020. gotta clear out the prospect to make room for the new post tokyo 2020 prospects.
- also get gassiv a good fight too.

Just no weak ass fights between the big four as they are now. We’ve already got Joshua v Ruiz and it looks like wilder v fury. Winners fight each other. The losers go back in the pool with whyte, Parker, usyk, ddd, Hunter, etc and we get them all fighting each other to see how it all plays out.

I think wilders a freak and will ko fury in rematch and all others, but ultimately would love to see him in with usyk as we don’t know how deep that well is yet.

AJ to beat Ruiz
Wilder to wipe out Fury
AJ to bash Whyte/mandatories
AJ v Wilder for all the marbles. Really have no dog in that fight, love watching both of them and will be happy for either

I'm losing interest in the HW division again tbh. I hope Ruiz chins AJ again and i hope the Wilder/Fury fight actually happens. I'm interested to see Usyk matched against some big guys but the inevitable PPV they're no doubt gonna try and hit us with for Chisora makes my soul die a little... Piss sick of it...

I think Fury is the best of them but just cannot concentrate for 12x3

I would love to see AJ-Wilder. That's still a 50-50 I think.

Also, Ruiz-AJ is 50-50 again for me.

I guess what is ideal is the question?

I think I want to keep Wilder, Fury, AJ, Ruiz and Usyk in the pot...all taking wins off one another. Then hope Joyce, Yoka and Dubois can get in there too.

AJ winning has to be good for the sport's popularity over here...which means bigger TV budgets and the likelihood the sport can attract more talent.

First of all, Ruiz KOs Joshua in the rematch still in 2019. Then, in early 2020, Fury outclasses Wilder again, this time without getting robbed or even dropped. In about May-July Fury either unifies all the belts against Ruiz or a part of them, if Ruiz is stripped of some. At that time Usyk fights for the stripped belts, if they are vacated, or just takes an eliminator against some top opponent like Whyte, Parker, Miller, Povetkin/Hunter winner or at least Chisora. And then, at the fall of 2020, Fury faces Usyk for all belts for sure. And Wilder can fight Joshua somewhere at that time, while there also could be the bouts like Ruiz-Kownacki, Povetkin-Ortiz, Whyte-Miller, etc. That's how my wet dream 2020 looks like. The reality probably won't be even close.

Personally I hope Fury keeps dicking around, and not signing the rematch so that AJ vs Wilder can happen instead as that would be more entertaining.

Agreed on Fury. He is the unfun watch and if he goes away I wouldn't be upset.

I'd love to see AJ beat Ruiz and AJ face Wilder for all the belts. If that happens I'll comment on AJ vs Wilder later. AJ in the mix creates the most interesting and entertaining situation IMHO.

Also give me Whyte vs Ortiz. DDD vs Joyce. Hrgovic vs Kownacki.

I really won't complain at any Contender vs Contender matches in the meantime. It's always nice to see guys actually earn a title shot rather than just pad their record all the way to the title shot.

Yeah I agree. Ruiz is easily the most likeable of the four. I hope he becomes undisputed

He does come across as a really nice fella and doesn't seem like he's a competitive bone in his body out of the ring , seems so chilled . different animal inside , but I see Joshua winning this time around .

AJ out pointing Ruiz next Saturday might actually be the worst outcome for the division.

I would imagine mandatories will be flung on the winner and belts will get distributed.

I just have a weird feeling if Ruiz can win the rematch, somehow the wilder-ruiz bout can happen maybe not in Feb but like June 2020

Don’t really care who beats who just don’t want to see guys waiting around for specific matchups, I’d like to see a years worth of fights involving Wilder, Fury, Ruiz, Joshua, Parker, Usyk and Whyte, maybe Joyce and Dubois sneaking into the picture at the latter end of the year (maybe against each other), also they’re all experienced enough now to jump straight back into a big fight if they lose rather than feck about with pointless gimmes, I know I’m asking for too much
