Yes. Ruiz partied for 6 months in his new California mansion and it showed, but I give AJ much credit for fighting such a smart fight.
It reminds me of what Billy Conn said to Joe Louis after he almost beat Louis...
“You could have let me champion for six months, let me hold the title and then I could have given it back to you.”
Clash on the Dunes was no Rumble in the Jungle or Thrilla in Manila, but I enjoyed it.
My New Years wish is that wilder vs fury 2 has a definitive winner and then that winner fights AJ.
Make for a good heavyweight year.

Re: Respect to AJ
Ruiz is a modern day and very fat Leon Spinks.
You can never take away those 6 months he spent as HW champion of the world, but like Spinks, he beat an arrogant and ill prepared champion who took him lightly the first time around.
Like Ali before him, Joshua didn't make the same mistake twice and fought the perfect fight the second time around.
Lets hope for Ruiz's sake that the rest of his career and life doesn't mirror Leon Spinks's.
PS: Someone needs to make a film or documentary about Leon Spinks; what a story that man has to tell.
