Danny Jacobs vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr

Post by handsofstone »

This Friday in the wee hours live on Sky, Jacobs makes his debut up at Super Middleweight against fellow former Middleweight champ and general waste of space Chavez Jr, I thought Jacobs was well beaten in his unification with Canelo last time out although there was a lot of people who had it close and maybe some who thought he even won, he just didn't do enough for me and his punches lacked the same snap as Canelo's, he's moved up to 168 now and true to form him and Eddie believe we'll see a new and improved Jacobs

I haven't seen Chavez Jr since the pathetic showing against Canelo a couple of years ago, he was dire that night and along with the stoppage to Fonfara makes you wonder if his hearts in it anymore if it ever was, who knows I'm hoping the break and another crack on the big stage can bring out the best of him but I doubt it, ive never been his biggest fan if I'm honest, he was just tough, game and a bit of a weight bully at 160

Jacobs hasn't exactly blown me away with his performances recently, he's not the KO machine he was coming through but he's still in a lot better form than Chavez Jr and a lot more active so for that I'm going Jacobs wide points, might even force a quit job on Jr

To nobody's surprise Jr weighed in at 173lbs with Jacobs under 168. Big penalty for jnr and the fight is at 173lbs.

I like my boxing, but Charvez Jr is a waste of space, and Jacobs has been slipping since GGG, so also has no relevance either.

There was a thread on this fight on the CS anyway.

Or if a UK based boxer fights in the US, you'll see a thread in the B&I

Strange ending I never seen that coming, I thought Chavez won the last round account of the big right hand he landed, I called the quit job in the OP but still... he had an excellent 1st round, jab was class and he landed a sickener of left to the body but Jacobs outboxed him afterwards without really breaking sweat, it hadn't really got going, shame it ended like that but that's the sh1t that happens when you put Chavez Jr on your card

X2. Enough is enough, his old man's reaction ringside said it all.
