Why do you think Fury and Davison split?

Post by Controversial »

Pressure from his dad? Fury not focused on training and Davison wants to distance himself? Quite an odd split considering they are still good mates, obviously a reason behind it, what do you think it is?

Technical I think.

Davison is a physical training guy mainly.

Its an interesting one. I wonder if Tyson feels he needed a more established set up for the return with Wilder? Perhaps Davison wasn't happy with Fury's other commitments and was worried it might fall back on him should Tyson lose?

Tyson is a smart guy and I'm hoping its because he realises how much of a threat Wilder is this time and wants to give himself the best possible preparation?

It is interesting, perhaps its money, or commitment related - purely speculation here. It is "odd" that Fury isn't going to a big name trainer so I wonder if it is financially related. Davison's profile has obviously risen considerably.

I’ve listened to loads of interviews, podcasts etc. with Davison and I think he’s very technical. He’s always talking about in-depth stuff.

I think Fury is just an unpredictable nutter and none of his professional relationships will last long.

I can't see any trainer really changing or adding much to Fury now so being for technical reasons does seem a bit odd. He's too changeable and unorthodox and that's what makes him hard to fight.

This is what I meant. I doubt he’ll improve any more from a skills perspective but he’s probably a few coaches away from his last one.

When you listen to Johns rants , you have to think that camp has been unsettled for a while ,, John obviously has Tysons ear , his brother Shane is with him all the time , its obvious when John rants about the camps being a joke , he's getting info from Shane , so all in all Davidsons days were probably numbered months ago

Apparently Anthony Joshua has volunteered to help Fury train for the rematch with Wilder, and Wilder has accepted. Interesting development.

AJ is probably the closest Fury could get to somebody that's able to mimic Wilder's punching power in training camp, plus it gives him the double advantage of analyzing AJ for a future bout down the road there as well.

If AJ's smart he'll be doing Wilder the whole camp, and will show very little if any of his own game.

I think everyone's covered it here: running out of road if Fury loses to Wilder; and John. It's well-known that John considers Davison a yes-man, and it'd surprise nobody if he's put pressure on Tyson to ditch him.

And then maybe Davison doesn't fancy the Wilder rematch from what he's seen, and if Fury loses, figures he'll be notable by his absence and become the next Booth. His future as a trainer now hinges on the outcome of that fight.

Johns rants , have obviously been fuelled by others , after all there training camps in the states Johns not there too see whats going on , But Shane is , I watched the interviews with Davidson , and could'nt help but think , this guys got stars in his eyes ,, loved sitting around the pool brushing his hair back and stating the obvios , he really was starting to believe his own publicity ,,

Said it before Tyson fights on instinct , the instinct of not being hit , he has the size to make himself very ackward and the footwork to make himself hard to hit ,,, However , the problem with Wilder is , he's a big guy with a long reach and dynamite in his right hand especelly ,, and sooner or later he will time you and then its lights out ,, and next time he will time Fury quicker than last time ,, , You keep moving away from a swinger and sooner or later he'll catch you ,,

The way to win this fight is'nt to run and try to do a AJ -Ruiz , its too close that right hand down , yeh move away for sure but like i said do it too much every rnd and he will eventually clock you ,, the trick is gonna be , knowing when to move in and hold , , spoil , and rough him up ,, you have to take note out of Ortiz book and remember Wilder is'nt the greatest boxer out there , so its all got to be mixed up , move and jab , and occasionaly go for it , try to catch him , and give him something to think about , tie him up and rough him up , ocasionaly taking the fight to Wilder , and Davidson i doubt has the knoledge or exxperience to work on this , Its gonna be angles and angles they have to work on , putting Wilder of balance , Tyson has the skills to implement this , but Davidson does'nt have the experience , so all in all the kronx way of boxing is probably a good fit , ,

coneye wrote: 22 Dec 2019, 17:20Said it before Tyson fights on instinct , the instinct of not being hit
Instinct's most frequently our subconscious reaction to previously successful actions, and what's interesting is that it can fail us. It's why beating lots of awful fighters is counterproductive.

A typical reaction time's around a quarter of a second for visual stimulus, and we're slightly faster to react to noises, hence guns in athletics. But mental processing adds a ton more delay, and this is where ours instincts save time. But to give an illustration of how it can be flawed I'll write an example:

Imagine almost getting run over by a car, where you were standing closer to its right side (your left), and you dived left to avoid it. Then years later the same thing happens again, where you're also closer to safety if you dive left, and you do. But then years later another car comes at you (I don't know why you haven't learnt about traffic at this point) and instinct tells you to dive left, only this time you're closer to safety if you dive right, and you get hit diving left.

So if you rely on your car-avoiding instincts built from repetitive success, you might get punished for subconsciously obeying your previous patterns. Or if you catch your instinct kicking in and realise it's better to dive right in this case, that's added a chunk of processing time.

As for fights, you can watch all the footage of someone and think you know them, but when you face them they do different stuff because they haven't faced *you* before. But Fury and Wilder have met and have a handle on their matchup now. Wilder knows he can knock Fury out with his best shot but has to be wary of tiring, while Fury knows he can win if he avoids that long-range right and tires Wilder with his infighting.

Fury still does a lot of stuff wrong and gets away with most of it because of his long arms and legs, together with good discipline in tucking his chin behind his shoulder (remember that Wilder caught him high with the right before his left hook). He's better when he's afraid of hard punchers because he doesn't neglect this, but if someone who's tall and rangy can chase him intelligently and land around the top of his head... Especially when cornered, where he has a tendency to square up momentarily when he wants to swivel to slip away. But he's still hard to catch because he's a big old unit, and shorter guys struggle to make up the ground he creates from pivots.

Wlad and Wilder also respected his feints more than I suspect they feel they should have on review.

Fury could learn a good lesson from Ortiz. If you watch a Wilder highlight reel... every time he lands that killer right, it's behind a range finding left. It's less of a jab, more like a target setting... the right lands exactly where the left touched the head. He did it against Firtha, Scott, Duhapaus, Stiverene, Szilpka, Washington, Molina, Breazeale, Ortiz and Fury

Ortiz knew this as if you watch their second fight, every single time Wilder put out that left hand, Ortiz moved instantly to the right, putting him out of range. The one time he stood still, he was KO'd but Wilder did try it a lot before that. Fury will have to switch on and move very single time that straight left is stuck in his face. It's very rare for Wilder to walk someone on to a single shot

Well the old man , said the last camp was a mess , the weight was wrong , ect ect ect ,,, all well documented , but since he was,nt there he must of been getting info from someone , , who would run telling tales on a Tyson camp to Tysons old man , Only one i could think of would be his brother Shane , so unrest was theres months ago ,, Now according to Andy , he quit was'nt dropped , because , they brought in extra help ,, so whats that tell you ,

Tells you what i said a year or so , he's a ego tripper , his knoledge is limited , just limited to stating the obvious , but his love of the limelight , interviews and the media circus , seems to be quite high ,, Tyson brought in a extra coach , who he's worked with before and obviously likes , and Ben Quits ,, proffesional on Tysons part ,, dummy spit on Davidsons part .

But yet a renowned trainer of the english ameteur team , a world champ in Froch , and the current 3 belt holder AJ ,, Mcracken ,, , whats he do when AJ says lets bring someone else in , he says , , Lets go to work .
