What about Yarde v Pascal

Post by polecateddy »

It seems to me that once Yarde gets his warm up fight out the way, that Pascal might make a good fight.

What's in it for Pascal? Yarde got starched by a jab in his last fight. That's how it ended if I recall. Starched by a jab.

I thought Jack beat Pascal at the weekend though. I can't really understand why Jack gets shafted on the cards consistently. He's quite good to watch. Compact, accurate, textbook shots. meanwhile Pascal has always got fortunate scoring. It must be the way he wings his shots in which is quite eye-catching. I prefer the textbook short punches that Jack was landing.

He's one paced and often takes half a fight to actually get going, that's probably why there are so many close fights on his record and why many don't go his way. Despite the typical moaning about Jack being hard done I had no problem with the decision. Jack easily could've been down 50-44 after 5 and some second half rounds were close. What happens is that Jack has big rounds when he actually does have his rounds, often in the latter half, which are more memorable and causes a lot of people to forget all his so so stuff before

Jack is a well backed fighter and there is really no reason for all these different judges in so many different fights to single Jack out for unfair treatment or anything like that, I think it's simply his inability to quickly raise the gears and fight a full fight

Definitely. Bivol took a bit of stick for the performance at the time and I felt a little disappointed myself but Pascal has shown life in the old dog since, to be fair.

Pascal enjoying a late career renaissance after many thought he was done, and I reckon he would beat Yarde quite handily if he fights at the level of his last couple of fights...

He's tricky to match. Yarde needs a high profile fight where he has chances, or he risks being sent into obscurity by someone like Hosea Burton.

Yes, there isn't much that Yarde can bring into this fight. I'm sure Pascal wouldn't turn down a good payday, unfortunately I don't think Yarde brings that. Pascal can sell really well at his adopted home, Yarde not so much.

Frank wouldn’t consider touching that fight IMO.

I can see Yarde v Ramirez or similar for the vacant WBO back end of 2020

I agree, got alot of love for Pascal though. He gives it everything and won me a tidy sum vs Browne.
