Gervonta Davis-Gamboa Peaked At 604K Viewers On Showtime
Gervonta Davis’ victory over Yuriorkis Gamboa drew Showtime’s second-highest viewership for a boxing match in 2019.
Nielsen Media Research revealed Tuesday that Davis’ 12th-round stoppage of Gamboa attracted a peak audience of 604,000 on Saturday night from State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Davis-Gamboa, the longest fight of Davis’ six-year pro career, was watched by an average audience of 577,000.
The only fight Showtime aired this year that drew higher viewership was Deontay Wilder’s first-round knockout of Dominic Breazeale on May 18. Wilder’s mandatory WBC heavyweight title defense versus Breazeale, which lasted just two minutes and 17 seconds, was watched by 886,000 viewers live on Showtime from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
A total of 774,000 viewers watched Davis-Gamboa through various platforms. That figure includes those that tuned in live on Showtime, through On Demand for initial replays and via Showtime’s live streaming service.
Wilder-Breazeale attracted a total of 1,100,000 viewers live on Showtime, via On Demand for initial replays and through Showtime’s live streaming service.

Re: Gervonta Davis-Gamboa Peaked At 604K Viewers On Showtime
Woof, between Jermall Charlo and Gervonta Showtime couldn't even hit a million viewers combined.

Not quite ready to host a PPV on his own back just yet.
Davis Vs Loma would do the trick, can't think of another LW match up that would warrant it though.
Or maybe that is the only matchup I would pay for.

If 577k is some burning hot awesome number these days it says something not too good about the state of the sport's popularity in the US

You’ve not provided your target numbers nor have you supplied figures comparing his stats to others that competed on Showtime.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑31 Dec 2019, 21:14Higher for sure if he were really the hottest draw in boxing![]()
Do you simply guess?

Adrian Broner did like 400k more, half a million viewers isn't some elite, hottest draw in the sport stuff. If Showtime's numbers keep shrinking and the totals keep getting smaller that just speaks to less people interested as well
Do you think that Tank is showing the viewing popularity of 'the hottest draw in the sport'?

Boxing's popularity in the US is pretty abysmal.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑31 Dec 2019, 21:13 If 577k is some burning hot awesome number these days it says something not too good about the state of the sport's popularity in the US

Davis wouldn't do very well on PPV. Not in America. Partly the cost of PPV and mostly the lack of interest.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑31 Dec 2019, 21:20Ya, seems that way, 500k seriously getting hyped up as some great red hot, hottest in the game number![]()

Ya., seems to be a major lack of interest. Around half a million is even getting hyped now. Not long ago you had a guy like Broner doing close to a million on Showtime, and anything under a million on HBO was disappointing. Now Jermall and Tank do less than that combined and it's hyped as hot sh!te.oogiebe wrote: ↑31 Dec 2019, 21:23Davis wouldn't do very well on PPV. Not in America. They had been talking up this one as a PPV card before , but decided not too. I'm guessing they'll try to put Tank on PPV next year

In America it seems when the HW"s get hot, then interest returns to boxing overall. Used to be Olympic stars would get the hype, but we haven't had many in years.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑31 Dec 2019, 21:26Ya., seems to be a major lack of interest. Can't imagine Tank doing well on PPV, even against a Loma level guy. not in the US. The UK is another planet when it comes to boxing.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑31 Dec 2019, 21:28 They had been talking up this one as a PPV card before , but decided not too. I'd guess they might try to make him vs LSC for a PPV. Don't think he'll face Loma, perhaps not ever.

Re: Gervonta Davis-Gamboa Peaked At 604K Viewers On Showtime
I keep asking your to quantify your opinion by providing viewership figures that Davis should be achieving on Showtime, but you adamantly refuse to do it, because you CAN’T!
Reading your comments mocking Gervonta Davis’ viewing figures on Showtime is much akin to someone that knows absolutely nothing about the sport of boxing mocking Pernell Whitaker’s legacy, simply because he didn’t punch as hard as Mike Tyson! It’s utterly absurd!
It’s all about context and knowledge!
Take another look at Showtime’s typical viewership figures for the boxing events they cover and get back to me!
