Tbh I think the people who picked old Gamboa for Davis expected to an early KO from Davis but it didn't happen. So I think Davis vs Loma or even Haney are out of the question for 2020. Probably LSC, Ryan Garcia and Easter may be on FMJ/Gervonta radar or/and move up at 140 lbs since he has problems to make 135 lbs weight limit.
“I’m all for it,” Davis told BS.com about boxing Santa Cruz. “You know, again, ain’t no safety on this glock. Whoever want it could get it. I believe I got the best team in boxing. I’m thankful. I’m grateful. You know, I’m 25 years old. … My cup never full. I’m always willing to learn and things like that. Any big fighters that’s willing to fight me, you know, on this side, then I’m all for it. Let’s get it.”
Leonard Ellerbe, CEO for the Floyd Mayweather-owned company that promotes Davis, said Saturday night that Santa Cruz would be a suitable opponent for Davis’ debut as a pay-per-view headliner in 2020.
“[Santa Cruz] wants the fight,” Ellerbe said, “and we’re gonna see if we can make it happen.”
“I want a big fight,” Santa Cruz told BS.com last month. “People are thinking that I’m scared of those fighters. I want to fight Gervonta Davis to prove that I’m not scared of nobody.”
Nothing to surprise me as I thought. I think it would be a decent match up. Imo Miguel Berchelt would have been a better test for Davis and also a risky fight. So most probably 'good names' like LSC, Ryan Garcia, Valdez, Russell Jr, maybe Easter and Farmer are the type of fights that Davis is looking for.
