Quiet start to 2020.....

Post by Stuarty »

There's not really much on the schedule so far that's standing out or exciting me especially domestically... Hopefully it picks up because it's looking pretty fuckin grim just now! Anyone feeling the same?

Julian J-Rock suffered a big upset Saturday night. If I find a vid I’ll PM you but he’s usually in good fights.

Then we have to wait til next Thursday the 30th for Roman vs Akmadelliev and some other fights on that card look good.

January is shite like usually

Yep.

The UK schedule doesn't show much signs of picking up. Best we've got at the moment is Scott Quigg Vs Jono Carroll......Jesus.

Only fight I have any excitement for is Wilder/Fury.

I saw that last night and i watched some of that Colbert fight as well thanks mate. Just looking through the schedule is depressing me  The only thing that really stands out in the coming months is Wilder Fury and thats a fuckin another PPV that i'll need to stay up till daft o'clock to watch!

Roman-Ak has me excited. Farmer-Diaz I think may be boring, but it's a good match competitiveness wise.

Yeah looks that way mate. Looks like he's hovering about for one last pay day then chucking it. Certainly doesn't have any longer term ambitions.

Do you think that if Brook doesn't win in decent style he might hang them up anyway?

Not sure mate. If one of his eyes go again then probably but if he wins and comes through unscathed he will probably stick around just in case Khan decides he wants to fight. Personally i think that's dead in the water. Khan has never wanted it.

Yes, I'm looking forward to that one as well. All action guaranteed :TU:
As for Diaz Vs Farmer, it could be mostly dull, but with spurts of quality action. Both guys have the skills, it's just that I think they will be too cagey :verysad:

January is almost always a slow month for Boxing, but yeah the start of this year seems particularly slow. Usually things start to heat up a little in the Spring and Summer.

We'll almost certainly be getting an announcement for some sorta major fight in May by the end of February.

Yeah I was thinking how unpromising it looks as I like to get away 2-3 times a year to some good scraps. Obviously Fury and Josh Taylor are fighting away & almost certainly Saunders too.

Hoping for Warrington v Stevenson announcement, for Leeds.

Hoping Daniel Jacobs will challenge Callum Smith - in Liverpool.

Jacobs and Smith in Liverpool would be a good one to attend if it happens :TU:

I’m actually looking forward to that ! Think it will make for a good fight, Yafai v Gonzales and Jay Harris v the guy that beat Edwards also have my interest ( on the same card in the states), also Donaire v the guy that beat Inoues bro looks good and whoever Inoue fights I’m watching! All the quality seems to be in the lower weights at the minute for me

well the boxers like a holiday / family time so that means xmas , which means extra food and what not .... and not training so much if at all = out of shape .
Also it seems like the time when people make a change of trainer / promoter etc so again this would cause a bit of a lull .
and finally nobodys got any dosh for tickets / ppv anyway ..

I rest my case :verysad:

I knew we’d had a good January in the best few so I looked at it was 2017.

Mikey Garcia sparking Dejan Zlaticanin

Frampton Santa Cruz 2,

DeGale vs Jack was a draw but the ref got dropped and James lost a tooth

Francisco Vargas vs Miguel Berchelt in a one-sided but intense Mexican war

Gervonta Davis winning his first title from Jose Pedraza after losing a few round while Jose made them Woop-woop noises

Miguel Roman vs Takashi Miura love these two!

Part of the reason is the insane last 3 months we had for 2019 tbh.... Still quiet but it's an explainable silence
Russell Jr vs Nyamabayar should be good in early feb
