Middleweights: Emile Griffith vs Iran "The Blade" Barkley

Post by scorpio83 »

15 Rounds Middleweight Bout

Either Griffith out-boxed the Blade behind his jabs and combinations to take a decision or Barkley would swarm him off the ropes and nailed him with heavy punches, but take a decision himself. What do you guys think?

Hard to imagine a scenario where Barkley wins. Griffith by a wide decision.

Barkley was the 3 r's rough, rugged and raw.Great chin, easy to hit hard punching with a good jab I always thought.
But anyhow as much as I like him I think Griffith would be too quick. Too elusive and when caught ,would weather it.
But what if Barkley did catch him and follow up could he stop him?

Griffith was only ever stopped like twice in a 100 something bout career. Barkley stopping him is extremely unlikely.

Thats what I think.Barkley could punch but Griffith was another class of fighter. Not impossible but highly unlikely.

Plus aside from punching power, Emile was better in basically every other way. Probably better chin or at least equal to Barkley's, faster, better defense, better skills, better movement.

Barkley would have a slight puncher's chance at best.
