Boxing DVD sellers – Are they still around?

Are there any boxing dvd sellers around these days?

A lot of the threads I found when searching were from around 10 years ago so not sure who is still active. I am looking for 80s, 90s stuff. I am a member of those torrent sites, but they are mainly good for recent fights.

Anyone still purchase boxing dvds? Any recommended sellers?

I had a 150 vhs tapes full,had nowhere to store them and tried on here to give them away but couldn't,went in the tip

Ah that’s a shame, there’s probably loads of boxers out there that haven’t seen their own fights because they didn’t record it but someone will have done somewhere in the country but that like trying to find a needle in a haystack ! Been trying for years to find one of my fights that was on Scottish Sky Sports but with no luck.

That's a steal... tapes 6/7 are the fights I remember the most

I still buy. I like hardcopies. Sometimes on YouTube things get taken down. Just make sure you don’t buy off someone who’s recording web broadcasts onto disc. In my experience you have to shop around a fair bit, as one trader might have a crappy version and another might have really good. Also you need to watch out for the really bad standards conversions, where Pal to NTSC or NTSC to Pal interlacing compromises the image too much. Also weirdly a lot of guys seem to be still record g broadcasts onto VHS tape, very archaic. Or others are recording HD broadcasts onto basic DVD, reducing HD to SD, which causes skipped frames.

I did find an amazing seller, spent loads of money, then my last order he neither responded nor fulfilled the order. Don’t know if he got sick, died, or stopped serving me when I wasn’t happy with one order.

The thing about original recordings are they are full of interviews, build up and all the other titbits you don’t get on YouTube, even the ad breaks give you a sense of the era

I remember getting some vhs fights from a guy called p pretrou or something. I think I found him in boxing monthly and used to pay around 10 quid for fights of my choice copied on to a vhs tape. Think he sold his fight collection when DVDs came about.

I'm interested in finding out what you have for sale. Do you have a list with prices? Could you send me a message with your email address?

I have sent a dozen or so emails in the last few weeks to dvd sellers. Most of the sites still up are ancient. I would say less than half responded to me. The guy who advertises in Boxing Monthly didn't get back to me either. It's a bit of a wasteland.

I used to order from a SP Baldry as advertised in BM. Amazing now when you think about it. Used to love getting those tapes through.

I think by the time it was DVD I'd already stopped.

Have you got Joe Townsley v Hugh Davey ? I’m not sure if it’s their 1st or 2nd fight but it’s the undercard I’m after anyway in 97 in Glasgow, Keith Knox was on but it’s the Alston Buchanan fight I’m after.
