Incompetent or just plain biased in favour of Wilder?
I go with the latter. The point deduction, the having words giving wilder time etc.

Fury deserved a point off, his leaning all over Wilder was ridiculous. Bayless has been well past kt for some time though, and a 70 year old man shouldn't be tasked with pulling apart 2 heavyweight giants.

No mention of Wilder tying Fury up like an octopus every time they came inside ?
Got to work both ways unless you are favouring one fighter that is .
Wilder was as big a culprit .

I told my brother in law last night: he'll lose a point. It doesn't matter it's the right tactic. Keep leaning on him.

Corrupt and not fit for purpose. Should be retired and melted down for glue.

The point deduction was ridiculous, but other than that I didn’t think Bayliss was too bad tbh. Certainly better than many British refs we’ve seen in world title fights.

I didn’t think the point off was bad, he hit him after he said stop punching.

I’ve no idea why he docked the point, it was never gonna matter what I will say is he was too old to be reffing that fight, could hardly pull them apart

Definitely from the first bell he broke them up to help wilder .
I read an article about ref's and judges saying they don't take blatant money bribes but the promotor will put them up in a suite at a nice hotel with a unlimited tab and limos and if the ref goes against the promotors fighter he doesn't get those perks next time he's put in a holiday Inn miles from anywhere.

I don’t think his age had anything to do with why he couldn’t separate them.
And he docked the point because he said stop punching and Tyson then punched Deontay in the face.

I rewatched this moment for a few times and I just don't understand, what was wrong there. Apart from that Bayless was doing good in this fight and he's a solid ref overall.

Awful performance.
If they had Baylis in the first fight it would have been enough for Wilder to win.

IMO Kenny Bayliss is currently the best ref out there.
Some nights are better than others.

I'm not sure if he's a good referee or not but I DO know he spent the last round and a half staring into Wilders eyes, presumably because he could see him staggering around the ring and was ready to step in if necessary.
It's always been the case that for a point to be deducted there has to be a serious or persistent infringement. I didn't see anything resembling either of these situations. In such a prominent world title fight a point deduction at that point was extraordinary.
My own opinion was that he seen his own countryman getting hammered and wanted to give him time to recover and give him encouragement.

Apparently the point deduction was for Fury throwing a punch after the break (a punch he missed). Wilder did the same about 20 times but don't worry about that kids, it's US boxing

I’d always considered Bayless the top referee in the World until Saturday night. It definitely seemed he was pro wilder to a point he wasn’t trying to hide it.
