Jimmy Liggett

I am looking for information about the boxer Jimmy Liggett who is mentioned in the archives as having fought in 1940/41 (research for a book.) Did he previously have a career in Europe? Could he be the boxer who appears in the 1928 German movie "Abwege" (Crisis) and is credited as "Jimmy Lygelt"?
