Mariusz Wach vs. Kevin Johnson - June 12, 2020

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Boxing fans have unfortunately had to get used to the words ‘this heavyweight event is canceled’ or ‘this other show is postponed’ for the best part of two months now.

But finally, and most welcomed, a top division battle has been finalized. The headliner will take place on June 12th in Poland.

Coronavirus second wave-permitting, Polish heavyweight giant Mariusz Wach will take on evergreen American Kevin ‘Kingpin’ Johnson.

The fight is set to go down at the Pałac w Konarach. It gives fresh hope to the sport, which has been completely wiped out over the last few weeks.

In an official announcement, ringpolska.pl stated: “On June 12 at the Palace in Konary Mariusz Wach (35-6, 19 KO) will face Kevin Johnson (34-16-1, 18 KO).

“For the rival “Viking” it will not be the first visit to the Vistula river.

“In 2014, Kingpin hosted KnockOut Gym in Warsaw. He helped Artur Szpilka prepare for a clash with Bryant Jennings.”

God bless your enthusiasm. Boxing isn't boxing to me. I'd rather watch the cooking contests.

I love boxing but this is a fight even I'd avoid. Wach points in a snooze fest.

Any result other than Wach decision would amaze me.

Now Johnson in his prime would be another prediction.

Probably Wach by decision in a boring ass fight.

We could have a Boxing drought for 5 years straight, and it still ain't gonna make me so hard up that I wanna sit through Wach vs Kevin Johnson

Probably before he was 40. His resume is a bit thinner than I remembered. Perhaps though a 2010 version of KJ could have beaten Wach by decision.

Kevin 'Kingpin' Johnson has only won six bouts within the last eight years, losing fourteen times over the same time period, with three of those defeats coming by way of KO.

So whilst it’s entirely feasible that the near 41-year-old veteran gets stopped again, we have to consider the fact that Mariusz Wach has only won 46% of his bouts by KO.

My guess is that Wach delivers a lacklustre performance en route to scoring a lop-sided decision victory over Johnson.

Wach weighed 274.5 pounds, up more than four pounds from his 10-round loss to Dillian Whyte last December in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. Johnson tipped the scales at 263.3 pounds, roughly seven pounds heavier than he was in a 5th round knockout loss to Martin Bakole in his most recent ring appearance last October.

Wach needs to get into movies and tv as a bad guy, has the perfect enforcer look. Just don't have him throw any punches, because then filming would take an extra week from the time he starts throwing until the time he finishes the punch

Boxing World Weekly, the flagship weekly boxing television series and YouTube channel produced by Boxcaster Inc., is pleased to announce that on Friday, June 12, 2020, it will stream promoter Agon Sports’ live boxing event from Berlin, Germany to audiences across the United States and Canada.

The telecast, which begins at 1:30pm ET / 10:30am PT, will feature a total of five bouts, authentic German commentary – no English commentary on this one, but rest assured we are working on it for the next one! – and will be available for North American fight fans to watch on Boxing World Weekly’s YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/BoxingWorldWeekly) for free.

As the June 12 event is one of the first live Boxing events available since the COVID-19 pandemic postponed all live sporting events – and the first televised professional Boxing event to be streamed/televised from Europe since March – Boxing World Weekly is thrilled to collaborate with Agon Sports to help bring Boxing back to the masses!

The event is headlined by slick super welterweight world title contender, Jack Culcay (27-4, 13 KO), who will defend his WBO international belt against Howard Cospolite (18-7, 6 KO). In the co-main event, undefeated rising prospect Bjoern Schicke (16-0, 7 KO) will vie for the EBU European Middleweight Title against Marten Arsumanjan (9-1, 4 KO). Several promising prospects such as Artur Mann (16-1, 8 KO), Jama Saidi (16-1, 7 KO) and Vincenzo Gualtieri (14-0, 7 KO) will round out the excellent event.

Rejoice, fight fans. BOXING IS BACK, live from Europe.

The stream will begin at 1:30pm ET / 10:30am PT and can be found on Boxing World Weekly’s YouTube channel at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/BoxingWorldWeekly
