RIP Curtis Cokes
RIP Curtis Cokes
If anyone heard the news, former World Welterweight Champion and Hall of Famer Curtis Cokes had passed away at the aged of 82? He was an underrated fighter, but he will not be forgotten. RIP Champ

Had not heard this. Not a guy we talk about a lot, but he was outstanding.

Re: RIP Curtis Cokes
Cokes was a very underrated stylist who relied more on guile than grit -- but he could punch when he had to. After his fighting days were over he became an occasional actor -- highlighted by his role of "Earl" in 1972's "Fat City" -- and a respected trainer for the likes of Canadian heavyweight contender Kirk Johnson. He'll be missed ...

Re: RIP Curtis Cokes
Going by one version of the BoxRec ratings, he was once P4P #1 in the world. Was trainer of a few contenders after he retired as well. Wonder why he didn't get more attention.
TBH, I thought he'd died a while ago

Cokes was wonderful in Fat City.

RIP champ! One of the cooler names in boxing history.

I was going to say the same thing about Fat City. He was brilliant in that. An odd casting, but Cokes played it perfectly.
