Michael Nunn kickboxing

Post by ldlamb »

https://www.BS.com/michael-nun ... it--150174

So, have you heard?

Michael Nunn is fighting this weekend.

Yes… that Michael Nunn.

The same one who was a middleweight champion and a super middleweight champion. The same one who made title defenses against guys named Curry, Starling and Barkley, among others. The same one who subsequently spent more than a decade in jail on drug charges.

And the same one who turned 57 years old – yes, that 57 – three months ago.

If you think that seems peculiar on its own, you’re probably not alone.

But read on, it gets even better.

Nunn won’t actually be fighting a boxer. Instead, he’ll be matched with another of Iowa’s premier sports celebrities, a fellow by the name of Pat Miletich.

Miletich, for those unaware, was plying his trade in mixed martial arts during the back half of Nunn’s career. And he was no joke. In fact, he was in the UFC while the octagonal promotion was still counting its pay-per-view shows in double-digits, becoming its inaugural welterweight champion at UFC 17.5 in Brazil and defending four times before losing the title three years later at UFC 31 in New Jersey.

He went 2-2 after dropping the belt, last fought in 2008 and made the UFC hall of fame in 2014.

Oh, and he’s 52.

And lest either man feel too competitively comfortable, it’ll be neither a boxing nor an MMA fight.

Instead, they’re going with kickboxing.

Nunn has never kickboxed professionally. Neither has Miletich.

Nevertheless, they’ll be headlining a full outdoor show Saturday night on the midway at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds in Davenport, Iowa – though all the other bouts will be fists-only boxing.

Nunn was arrested after paying an undercover agent $200 for one kilogram of cocaine, which had a street value of $24,000.

That is entrapment and well it is also bullshit Nunn shouldn't have been so foolish. 200 dollars for a whole Kilo of cocaine, that's almost the same as for one gram isn't it?

I've never dealt drugs or done cocaine but hell if someone offered me that price 200 dollars for a kilo and me knowing how much that stuff is acctually worth I might just go for it. Then again when guys who aren't in the game come across some weight for one reason or another that often justs ends with a burglary and the nongame guy losing his weight as easily as he came across it.

A God damn disgrace, 15 years of this mans life gone, big victory for the federal authorities but...... did they stop drug use? Or did cocaine consumption just increase anyway? Ofcourse the latter so one has to ask himself, what good did this mans incarceration do?

Also lets assume that I run across some fool that offers to sell me 99,9% pure gold for 5 dollars per kilo with the catch that it's stolen... this would be one crazy deal and for me to buy it would be a crime ofcourse but it's ridicilous 5$ for a kilo of gold, nobody could blame me for taking that deal.... but they would with a 20 year sentence right? Fck this bullsh1t.

I hope Michael Nunn doesn’t get hurt too much and that the referee and Pat Miletich both ensure the bout is fought in a relaxed, friendly, safety-first, non-competitive manner.

If anyone saw Riddick Bowe’s appallingly weak attempt at Muay Thai, they’ll surely realise how embarrassing things might become for Michael Nunn if Pat Miletich decides to take this exhibition bout seriously.

If I recall rightly, Ray Mercer lasted about twenty seconds when he decided to engage in a kickboxing fight, The American didn't connect with a single blow.

Miletich was arrested for a DUI on June 29th. So, you have to wonder how seriously he's been preparing.

Nunn surely was asking them to front it to which definitely couldn't hold up in court. So they said you got get us something and he should have known better.

OMG! Nunn beat Miletich by SD! :o

I've only seen a few snippets but did Pat really try or was he simply trying to avoid hurting the near 60-year-old ex-boxer? :-?

The various forum feedback suggests it was the latter, but I guess I have no way of knowing for sure until I've seen the bout in its entirety.

Nunn was still very fast. What a shame this was, I felt bad watching it.

Pat went VERY smooth on Nunn keeping just enough to keep Nunn less confident. Otherwise he let Nunn do work for the huge crowd that was there for him.

If Roy Jones wants to have one more retirement fight then this could be the opponent.

I dont think its racist is really a fact, that Nunn must have been stupid to try to buy coke from an under cover copper for a fraction of its street value. If some offered me a 76 inch flatscreen tv with a ps4 and a ps4 VR unit for £20 id suspect something wasnt right.
