The am section here gets not much discussion, so posting here
I've been out of the am loop for a while. Looking at records and some vid, am I right in thinking Pat McCormack is the UK's top am?
Who are the other standouts?
UK amateur scene
Re: UK amateur scene
Yeah, Pat McCormack, Peter McGrail , Ben Whittaker and Frazer Clarke could all medal at Olympics with a good draw.
Re: UK amateur scene
Remember seeing Fraser Clarke vs Joyce a couple years back in good little fight.
As I recall Clarke looked the better boxer but Joyce was able to wear him down.
Pretty sure he used to work security at sky shows back then too.

Re: UK amateur scene
Peter “Scouse Lomachenko” McGrail will be brilliant, and make a very good pro I reckon. Maybe even the best from Liverpool.
I like both Pat and Luke MAC, the way they both swap between a classic amateur style going forward then flip out a very convincing Philly shell is impressive.
Was very keen on Olympics this year, just another COVID casualty. Had a load of names from WSB and World Champs at Russia I wanted to watch.

Pat Mccormack, and Peter McGrail are the two stand outs. They are A Level talents that could win Gold
I'd say Niall Farrell is the next best he is excellent( same weight as McGrail though so won't be going to the Olympics)
& Loads more good talent like Luke Mccormack, Frazer Clarke, Callum French.

In 2014, I was a coach for the US team at the tournament in Tampere, Finland. In the finals, Frazer Clarke easily beat US boxer Cam Awesome. I was impressed with Clarke. He has a future in pro boxing.
