Re: Bombardier Billy Wells
Some nice footage here but a lot of it isn't Wells. The 1915 footage of the man skipping and throwing the medicine ball isn't Wells.
The footage of the boxer in 1920 working out isn't Wells either. Wells can be seen at the start looking at the camera, but not after that. That shot that Beckett knocked him out with in 1919 is devastating. Wells was out before he hit the canvas. Utterly poleaxed.

entitled MODERN BOXING.:A Practical Guide to Present Day Methods (published in 1911)

in 1911, Thomas Inch "The Scarborough Hercules" (North Yorkshire)
owner and operater of the Fulham Gymnasium (Southwest London)
(and who once sparred with Sam Langford at the National Sporting Club)
was hired to get Bombardier Billy Wells into tip top physical condition as well as put on some muscle and weight on him.
and 'ere 'e is again years later.

The footage listed as 1915 is Pat O'Keefe training. Possibly around the time he fought an exhibition with Wells for the war effort.
Re: Bombardier Billy Wells-How Good was He ?
I read a book about Billy Wells a few years ago.
He was a top contender, but never THE top contender.
Lost the big contender matches.
