The Chinese had lots of good amateurs back around 2008. I guess they 'd sunk a lot more into them because of the China olympics. Don't see the same success from them in the ams these days though and the lot from back then didnt have much of a pro transition
Seems they've had one of the most active pro scenes during this year, though most of the guys arent too high of level. I wonder what they need to do in china to build pro fighters better so it's not just guys fighting time and time again in domestic scraps without much broader relevance
yeah it's odd that they haven't produced high quality talent. They still had decent amateurs but imo they weren't pro material... more blazzing fast combo boxers without pop...
This is a good formula to weed out the best talents and for the best ones to gather lots of wins and quick... with 2 cards per week, they will be fighting regularly... the winners and losers...
But so far i haven't seen a promoter have succes in China... Lots tried... Don King had a deal with CCTV5, prob the biggest sport channel in China and had a few events there without much credibility being achieved... Top rank is now there with Seca... Top rank had made some big cards with top talents a few years ago... those cards got crazy tv ratings, like 125 millions if i recal correctly.. But that passed and nothing big resulted from those Top rank cards and the local talents didn't emerge mid or long term.
