Ruiz by decision in an either way going bout, where there wouldn't be anything, except clinching. If the ref would do something to it in contrast to actual Ruiz' fights, where Johnny had King's corrupt backup, then Berbick would win.

Berbick would counter Ruiz's clutching with heavy blows from long range and working on the body to take a split decision.

Berbick was a bloody good fighter. A 1981 Berbick would bludgeon Ruiz in around 8 or 9 rounds. The 1986 Berbick would probably thump out a decision.

A tough man, a good, proper heavyweight was big Trev. :salut:

Berbick was good at his best, but he was very inconsistent.
Exactly, he could be uninspired but I think he has enough to deal with Ruiz and on his best night he would dispatch him inside the distance.
