If you could pick just one fight in history...

Post by Onamastus »

... that you believe was stopped prematurely, to be allowed to continue so that you could see what would have happened next, what would it be?

Mine is Lewis versus Klitschko. I have to know how that would have played out!

Lewis/Vit is a good pick.

Also Ali/Lyle comes to mind.

Chavez-Taylor. No intrigue in what would happen next, but that's just for justice.

60 stitches and his face looked like raw ground beef.
Did you want Vitali to have permanent damage? That fight was swinging to Lewis and Was stopped at the right time

Ali - Liston II.

I can't believe he and his management weren't screaming bloody murder after that one.
('Course I can if he really was in the tank.)

Yes. I'm confident Dokes would of won regardless. But I would of loved for it to have played out honestly. Instead of the joke of a stoppage they did

That one was terrible. Oddly, this question has me blanked. I keep thinking of shit like Tyson/seldon where he wasn't hit but he was going to be. Chavez/Taylor would be my #1 but 2 seconds left is a bit of a cop out.

Ali/Lyle seemed a bit quick and that was a close fight.

Really nice and different thread. After all these years you don't see many. My guess is vitali would have lost an eye, bled to death or knocked cold.

Thanks. How about Tua/Rahman 1, Froch/Groves 1, Mayorga/Forrest 1, Tyson/Ruddock 1, Ward/Kovalev 2? Anything get the blood pumping?

Khan/McCloskey was getting interesting before a paper cut was allowed to end proceedings.

Dare I ask, any takers for Ali/Frazier 3?

I thought Khan was totally clowning McCloskey and just making it more one sided when it ended (Paul admitted to being hurt in the last round), don't think Mc won a round on any card and rightfully so

The most premature stoppage I've seen was probably Enzo-Ovil McKenzie, the rematch turned out to be a very good fight with Enzo showing uncharacterisitc toughness

The first fight that came to my mind was Dokes vs. Weaver. I think Weaver could have easily continued and possibly even won. I could be wrong of course but wish that it had played out.

Well wasn't Vitali ahead on all three cards? He didn't win the fight, but Lewis was tiring. Once the doctor stopped it, I think we all saw how much energy Vitali had left. A re-match was in order here.

My choice is Ali vs. Frazier 3. Ali was dead on his feet after the 14th. Frazier half blind but ready to go. Some say Ali wanted the fight stopped in his corner, but Fraziers corner beat him to it!

Amazed by how many takers Dokes/Weaver I has. I like both but in the scheme of things it doesn't seem all that important. Ali/Liston II was a great pick. I would love to see how that played out.

Lewis just had his best round, vitali was going down with all that energy.

Vitali's passion and energy appeared after the fight was safely over, in the time honoured tradition
