We've seen Bruno against Bonecrusher Smith and Tim Witherspoon, when he provided solid efforts, but was stopped on both occasions. Also, he KOed Scott LeDoux and James Tillis, but it had been the last fight of washed up LeDoux, while Tillis had already firmly established himself in a journeyman status by that moment.
What's about his potential matchups against the likes of Michael Dokes, Pinklon Thomas, Tony Tucker, Tony Tubbs, Greg Page, Trevor Berbick, Mike Weaver, Gerry Cooney, Buster Douglas and Michael Spinks?
Considering that every fighter of the list is in prime.
I'd pick Bruno to win Weaver. The Berbick and Cooney matchups are quite either way going, as for me. The others would be likely to handle Bruno.
What are your thoughts on this?

Michael Dokes of Pre-Coetzee would KO 10 Frank Bruno
Pinklon Thomas would out-box Bruno for a WUD 12 or WUD 15
Tony Tucker WUD 12 or 15 Frank Bruno
Tony Tubbs WUD 12 or 15 Frank Bruno after out-boxing him or batter him for a late round stoppage in 12.
Greg Page TKO 8 Frank Bruno
Frank Bruno WUD 12 or WUD 15 Trevor Berbick
Frank Bruno KO 5 Mike Weaver
Gerry Cooney TKO 6 Frank Bruno
James "Buster" Douglas TKO 13 Frank Bruno
Either Bruno by WSD 15 or Spinks vice versa

Re: Frank Bruno vs the second tier of American heavyweights of the 80s
I think he'd stop Spinks and Cooney myself and be able to outpoint Weaver.
Tucker and Thomas would be a different matter....they had enough know-how to keep him at arm's length I reckon and Tucker in particular was a smart fighter when not on the gear.
I thought Tucker really did ok against Tyson when he was busy feasting on this generation....as I recall some folk thought he could have been a bit more progressive and earlier.
Not sure about Dokes, Berbick or Douglas to be honest.
They feel like "on the night" fights and I just don't know enough about Mike Dokes really.
Berbick is always cursed with his hammering by Tyson but I am aware he was previously much, much better than that and could have out-boxed Bruno.
I actually think that the late Bruno was the "prime Bruno" with the very decent showing against Lewis, a good win over Carl Williams and of course the McCall win.

He could probably beat all of them with that power of his!
(Michael Spinks is not second tier, however)

What makes Frank likely to wear down dokes? Mike had training and drug issues but Frank would be exhausted trying to keep the pace of that holyfield fight.Woldemar wrote: ↑04 Sep 2020, 07:34 Bruno KO 9 Dokes (Dokes would won first half on second he tired and Bruno catch him)
