Rumor ... Manny Pacquiao v Connor McGregor
Rumor ... Manny Pacquiao v Connor McGregor
Not sure what to make of this rumor.
Connor McGregor is saying he's going to fight Manny Pacquiao somewhere in the middle east in either December or January.

I suppose they hope for another multi million dollar megafight. I guess it'd still be big, it'd probably be a money loser though depending on what they have to guarantee the fighters.
Who knows though. Maybe the Public will keep wanting to see Conor fight these past their best ATG boxers forever more

Re: Rumor ... Manny Pacquiao v Connor McGregor
I’m pretty sure they’ve discussed it in the past. McGregor is retired from MMA right now so this would be a good move for him. Good move for Manny financially.

Not the money they'd think. McGregor would make more in the UFC. Corona was a death blow for boxing in the States.

If it was such a death blow then why are they thinking of taking a potential Pacquiao v McGregor fight outside the States ?
They could coin it in for decent money on that fight easily, might not make Mayweather numbers but it should do alright.

You answered your own question.
Re: Rumor ... Manny Pacquiao v Connor McGregor
Run that one by me again.
If U.S boxing is so desperate why would they let a potential big money fight like this slip through their fingers ?

Of course they can finance it, they're bankrolled to the eyeballs are you kidding.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑25 Sep 2020, 22:44I can't help you, their is no money for boxing here without gates/casinos. Let it slide? They can't finance it.
They're just finding easier and cheaper ways to do so.
As we go on the global audience just keeps getting bigger, major boxing events are now being held in the desert, I think the sport is doing well globally and has plenty of room to expand.
The U.S can light it up all over the world in boxing if they choose, but they need signals in order for them to do so, why do you think HBO bailed, they were really good but saw the writing on the wall.
Then Eddie Hearn showed and took the sport to another level, all of a sudden we have an electric Heavyweight division and all kinds of things popping of in the mid to light weights again.
It's a global boxing carousel and many people jump on and off along the way, boxing is doing fine and always has a way of regenerating itself.

Good chance it will be a straight kick off and someone will get KO'd early.

Can't wait to see Conor test another legend
Re: Rumor ... Manny Pacquiao v Connor McGregor
Not sure manny has the mentality/business smarts to carry conor and make a show of it the way mayweather did to keep a potential rematch possibility alive. Not only that but once Mcgregor is 0-2 not sure there would be big interest in a rematch between manny and conor so not much point in carrying him this time atleast not one that i can see.

You’re playing if you seriously think that anyone - even McGregor - would get paid more for a UFC fight than a PPV boxing match against Manny.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑25 Sep 2020, 21:07 Not the money they'd think. McGregor would make more in the UFC. Corona was a death blow for boxing in the States.

Absolutely it does.
It just needs to kick out those overpaid A side Vegas backed belt hoggers who just want to fight once a year against carefully picked low-threat opposition.
As you say, boxing always has a way of regenerating itself. It's still the best, most primal one on one sport there is, with a legacy no others can touch.
I know it hasn't worked out well for Dillian Whyte but to his credit he kept busy and taking on challenges.
We need more of his attitude and more fights.
In any case it's foolish to assess the global health of the sport on account of whatever $ums the Vegas cartel is able to stream to various offshore bank accounts.
If they can't "generate" enough dollars to support their 'system', that's their problem.
This world is full of talented boxers with plenty of ambition, and for now Manny Pacquiao is still the people's champion.

Re: Rumor ... Manny Pacquiao v Connor McGregor
Huge money for both, McGregor sells himself for a mammoth amount of silver against a smaller guy past his best.
Paq gets a big payday for an easy fight and we get another circus act.

A fight with McGregor, according to Pacquiao, would require the involvement of his promotional company, MP Promotions.
He also denied having an agreement with Paradigm Sports Management, who guide the career of McGregor. The eight division champion has now formed his own management company, Pac Sports and Entertainment.
"At the present time, I do not have an existing management contract with Paradigm Sports Management. I have formed my own company, Pac Sports and Entertainment, and am more than willing to give the fans what they want: An exciting fight with Conor McGregor under terms and conditions where I am the co-promoter with my company. Thank you and God bless," Pacquiao told The Daily Mail.

Causals cares about this fight, I do not.
McGregor might lose or win, don't care really. Have lost respect for Manny since, he claims to be afraid of needles and also who slow he looked against Horn then looked somehow younger against who was it? Broner and Thurman... He is a dope fiend in my head. Don't like weird patterns like that. He looked way quicker then against Horn in with Thurman, and that guy is a real welter who fought his as off.
Hope Manny gets caught as a drugcheat. Cause, he is one. He will do the same if he fight McGregor in what is it now? Don't care. Also Im ranting, since I lost my respect for the bastard. 8 weight divs, and how much dope?

Didn't Manny Pacquiao criticise Mayweather for facing McGregor?
And now Manny is conceding to being a hypocrite, due to his willingness to take the McGregor fight (as long as he co-promotes it).
