Boxers' unusual or quirky mannerisms during a fight
Boxers' unusual or quirky mannerisms during a fight
John Ryder used to frequently tap/lightly hit his head with his gloves during a fight.
I noticed that Joe Bugner would often bang his gloves together.
Any others that people are aware of?

Orlando Canizales had lots of little mannerisms, little shakes of the head and waves of the gloves and so on
Re: Boxers' unusual or quirky mannerisms during a fight
Leo Santa Cruz does a twist of his right wrist when engaging his opponent.

Makhmudov's head tick. Adds to his fearsome look.

That's the one that came to mind for me too.
I don't know if it's quirky, but you can bet your ass Broner is gonna do the "You didn't hurt me" head shake any time you punch him pretty much. Though he'd surely give up on that if he was just getting lit up relentlessly.

Lucian Bute would constantly lower/adjust his trunks. As seen at 16:37, 16:53, 17:45, 19:20, 19:50, 20:02, 20:18 and 21:23 in this clip.
8 times within the first 2 rounds against Alvarez.

Can always recall how Eubank Senior would often do "the statue" in some of his gimme title defences.
He'd just stand stock still for a few seconds in a quite curious, gloves-up, slightly crouching and very arrogant pose as if he was having a post-fight press shot being taken......
......it annoyed me at the time because he could have been fighting and entertaining us, rather getting 12 rounds of passivity and posing
But I think it was also smart in certain ways....Eubank did not like to work hard if he did not have to and in some of these defences he was also doing a bit of psyching-out.
"Here I am, stood right on the spot. Do you fancy yourself to have proper crack or not?"
He also had this weird way of breaking this pose, he'd hold the thing for a while and then slink away backwards.
Perosnally, I preferred it when he jumped the top rope; often the highlight of many of his fights

Mike Tyson used to do that twitchy movement with his head and sometimes after the very first bell he would do quite a pronounced skip

Malignaggi shook his hands like he had too.
Not repeated, but rahmans bunny hop to start the Lewis rematch and Shane's incessant glove touching with Manny were incredibly bizarre.

Lol, I was high on him. In fact, don't recall what site I was 'writing' for, put out an article predicting he would stop ward.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑02 Oct 2020, 05:22haha good call it was like watching a drunk, his balance looked very strange because of that

Always, the only defense I can give myself is I at least said ward would win every round before getting caught in 8 or 9. Nope, that's no defense.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑02 Oct 2020, 05:59you must have been very 'high'Onetimeonly wrote: ↑02 Oct 2020, 05:47Lol, I was high on him.
