There are some backing him, but the English folk are saying that’s too far. He’s been through a lot etc.

He did get out of the rematch..

It’s Wlad’s account that one.

He avoided the rematch, but Wlad doesn't really have any room to complain considering he had 12 rounds to try to defend his title, and didn't do a goddamn thing.

Shook, triggered and oh so salty.

I remember Wlad suddenly turning evil in that Gloves are Off with Haye when Haye slagged off Vitali. He obviously loves his brother and the Fury loss probably still embarrasses him. Wlad's a bit of a bully and doesn't like it up him. At the end of the day, IF Fury beats AJ he'll have beaten Wladamir Klitschko, Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.

People should remember he played patty cake with Ibragamov for 12 rounds, only KO'd tiny fat Eddie Chambers in the 12th because Emmanuel basically told him he was pussy in the corner and his best win was a cruiserweight from England with a sore toe.

Should we forget his platform shoes, spongy ring and mystical USB prediction? Or that he 'redeemed' himself from being outboxed by Fury by getting sparked out by Anthony Joshua, where he finally got a bit of credit for having a fight for a change? Or that he never rematched a fat golfer who flatlined him and got his brother to do it for him instead?

Should stick to sucking up to his ‘little brother’ AJ.

Agreed withmost of this.

Wlad v Ibraginov was utterly unwatchable. So we’re the other two key wins, Povetkin and Haye.

He did get a lot of credit v Joshua, picking a couple of great shots, but nonetheless spent the majority of that fight throwing feints.

The Gypsy King would have outclassed the older Klitschko as well.

Did he outclass Wlad, though?

He won a clear decision by edging a lot of rounds and, from memory, got hurt/buzzed at least once in the later rounds. Great victory but it’s not like he toyed with him.

Fury/Vitali is an interesting one to think about, though it would be ugly as hell.

I'd say, he did toy with him, just didn't force anything. There was no big damage delivered, but Fury was taking round after round and he was indeed caught only once, late in the fight.

It's never going to happen so it's all conjecture anyway. All boxers pull out of fights because they're injured: Fury pulled out of the rematch with Wlad because his head was wrecked and it took years for him to get it back together. I too haven't watched the fight very much and certainly not for a long time and my main memory is of Wlad turning around and walking away from Fury while still getting punched. It's not often you see that in a fight. So yeah, there were definitely moments where he toyed with Wladamir.

Define 'outclassed' anyway.

Considering we're locked down again and they're supposedly going to shut the gyms, and it seems to be raining endlessly in the UK, I'll definitely end up rewatching it.

Good man, take one for the team and report back on your findings, I’ve never managed to find the motivation to watch it again and doubt I ever will.

Wlad vs Fury is a fight that seems to have been faded / erased from memory - it was really close. Sky gave him the fight by rediculously giving him the last round (had it level). I know you shouldn't score a fight this way - but in the "old school" - take the championship from the champion style of judging - then I'm not sure if Tyson did enough.

Either way it was very close - but it has since become a "schooling" and now a "kick arse"..... Tyson kicked Wilder's arse in the rematch and gave him a schooling in fight 1 - but he didn't do either vs Wlad..... Wlad for some reason couldn't pull the trigger and Fury didn't do much trigger pulling either.

I love how Tyson gets under their skin so much  He has absolutely done in Deontay with his antics, which I think have done more lasting damage than the physical beating he endured. Looks like Wlad still can't get over it either. Well done Tyson, keep winding them up :TU:

Fury mostly won because Wlad did nothing.

But that was kind of due to Fury’s style. Just unpredictable.

1) Wlad has worked hard on cultivating his “gentleman” image .. but as others have said he is an on top fighter with a huge ego, who stacked all the odds in his favour at every opportunity.

2) I don’t think it’s necessary to defend Tyson Fury if someone calls him out on social media ... Fury probably doesn’t care .. it’s all part of the game - a game that Fury is very good at using it to his advantage !

My definition of outclassed in boxing would be a fight where it's clear one boxer's abilities are on a totally different level to the other's. My memory of the fight is more that Fury got his tactics spot on and fought a brave and disciplined fight.

The fact that most of us were expecting Wlad to do the 'outclassing' may have coloured how the fight is remembered.

I take nothing away from Fury though, and rate his win over Wlad as better than AJ's.

Spot on mate. He sought to load the deck in his favour in all ways possible.
