What about Crawford vs Thurman? Seems like that could be a great fight to me.

Thurman recently told the media of that he's at the front of the queue to face fellow PBC stablemate, Errol Spence Jr., during the second half of next year.

Apparently, this is more than just a rumour.

I suspect Thurman will have a warm-up bout prior to facing Spence Jr.

Bob Arum says he's trying to put Pacquiao against Crawford next, but the Top Rank head honcho initially mentioned it during 2014 and from 2016 onwards, he kept talking about that fight, but has never managed to do it.

There is no chance Pac sets foot in the ring with Crawford. It’s not happening. Pac has a lot easier fights he can make some money on.

Crawford vs Thurman is even less likely than Crawford vs Spence. If those two sides wanted to sit at the same table, they’d make the mega fight that actually makes them money.

Crawford’s career will forever be without a marquee win despite being a multi-weight dominant champion. Welterweight was thin enough the past five years, and the best ones were almost all signed up with the PBC. Crawford was with Top Rank. And that’s why the fights didn’t get made.

Arum can bemoan Crawford all he wants, but his lack of marketability lies in part with TR. If the Spence fight doesn’t get made, it’s on TR. They had everything to gain by making the fight and very little to lose.

Red - Nah. Spence and PBC won't even blink at Bud right now. They have options.

Fair point. It makes little sense for PBC to roll the dice on a Spence loss right now when they as a promotion have little to gain in the long-run if TC wins before he’s under their banner.

Crawford said in the post-fight interview after beating Brook that he wants to face Pacquiao. Since Pac already beat Thurman, Crawford-Pacquiao makes more sense than Crawford-Thurman.

It's an OK matchup, but even Crawford-Pac sounds more interesting.

I know mate!
It snuck up on us over this year, covid inactivity on top of that as well.
I'm not saying eary 30's is past it, some guys peak around then, or adapt defensively.
Unfortunately the lighter weight guys can also fade, literally overnight.

Sign the contract instead of holding out for every last dollar until he's 40.

Bob will cark it before Bud gets to 40 :TU:
After all, he pulls the strings, and Crawford appears very loyal to him.

True enough. Great fight that is not made. But, they will only pay Crawford the good money or something.

PBC would be helping Bud/Top Rank at this point in time. How does it make sense for them to do that?

No worries amigo. There are several young world-class WW prospects just outside the top 20 who only need a little more experience before they crack to top 10!!
