Wilder wants Whyte if he can't get Fury next!

Post by Enlightened-One »

"'all will reveal itself' Deontay Wilder wants Dillian Whyte next if Tyson Fury trilogy does not happen"

Deontay Wilder has revealed he wants to fight Dillian Whyte next if a deal cannot be agreed for a third fight with Tyson Fury.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ relinquished his WBC heavyweight title to the Brit in February when he was stopped at the MGM Grand Garden by a scintillating Fury.

Despite rumours of a blockbuster unification bout with domestic rival Anthony Joshua, Fury seemed set for a trilogy with the Alabama slammer after a rematch clause was invoked.

However, with the outbreak of COVID-19 and a slew of injuries to Wilder, the fight is still yet to happen and it appeared as though the clause has expired.

Now, the 36-year-old is adamant Fury must fight him next rather than take a homecoming fight on December 5 as previously advertised.

Should the bout fail to happen yet again, Wilder was asked on the Last Stand Podcast with Brian Custer who he would like to face next and listed former WBC mandatory challenger Whyte as his first choice.

When asked which three fighters he would like if the Fury trilogy fell through, he unleashed a verbal assault on Britain’s ‘Bodysnatcher, using some crass language.

Dillian Whyte, I want Dillian Whyte and I want Dillian Whyte. The dude is obsessed with me, man.

It feels like he acting like we went together and then we had a bad break up which we can’t get over.

Maybe I have some good p**** or something, I don’t know? No homo.

He always tried to come out with lies and all this. I’m the man that he wants to be, I’m the man that a lot of these fighters want to be.

“But we will see what happens man, it’s going to be exciting whatever happens. I’m an exciting fighter and I am must-see TV regardless and it all will reveal itself.”

Thoughts?

Coincidentally, here's one of things I mentioned in the "2021 Wish List" thread:

"Dillian Whyte gives first reaction to Deontay Wilder calling him out, laughs at challenge from former WBC heavyweight champion"

Dillian Whyte has laughed at Deontay Wilder after the ‘Bronze Bomber’ said he wants to fight him if he can’t get Tyson Fury next.

The former WBC heavyweight champion was dethroned by Fury back in February, but activated his contractual clause to force a third fight between them.

Following a number of delays, the ‘Gypsy King’s’ team now claim that the contract has expired and so they intend to move on and fight Anthony Joshua next in 2021.

However, Wilder’s camp have now initiated the dispute resolution provision in the contract to have a judge settle the matter through mediation and then binding arbitration.

Should this not be ruled in his favour, Wilder said on the Last Stand Podcast: “Dillian Whyte, I want Dillian Whyte and I want Dillian Whyte.

“The dude is obsessed with me, man.

“It feels like he acting like we went together and then we had a bad break up which we can’t get over.

“Maybe I have some good p**** or something, I don’t know? No homo.

“He always tried to come out with lies and all this. I’m the man that he wants to be, I’m the man that a lot of these fighters want to be.”

Whyte reacted by reposting this interview on his Instagram story.

He added a simple caption: “Hahahahahahahaha.”

Prior to his defeat to Alexander Povetkin back in August, Whyte was the WBC mandatory challenger.

For two years he had been calling for a fight with Wilder, but nothing ever materialised.

His promoter Hearn reacted to Wilder’s comments by telling iFL TV: “That’s convenient of him, Dillian Whyte’s only wanted to box him for ten years.

“Listen, Dillian Whyte has got the fight of his life against Alexander Povetkin first.

“You know what’s weird? I saw that list, he didn’t mention AJ, did he?

“I mean, you’ve got the unified world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, and he still don’t wanna fight him.

“Anyway, we’ll move on from that.

“Dillian Whyte against Deontay Wilder is a really big fight, but Dillian’s got bigger fish to try at the moment.

“He’s got to beat Alexander Povetkin and then he wants to fight for the world title.”
