5-7-50 is often listed as Cobb's DOB and his ex-wife confirms it. What is BoxRec's source for his birthdate ?

The Texas Birth Index lists a birthdate of 1953-12-10 for Randall Craig Cobb in Orange County, Texas. According to court documents, Craig was indeed the fighter's middle name and the listed parents also match those of the fighter. Interestingly, one Randall Hubbard Cobb is listed as born 1950-5-7 in Bowie County, Texas..

That makes 1968 a very unlikely year for his high school graduation.

Cobb's wiki information says he graduated high school in 1968 -that's why 1950 seems like his correct year of birth, along with his wife's statement that 1950 is correct.

I just did some newspaper research and found the following: Abilene Reporter-News (2-2-72) reported that Randall Cobb-All District Offensive Tackle at Abilene High during the 1971 season- will play for Abilene Christian College in 1972. The same newspaper- on February 3, 1972- ran a photo of Cobb .

On November 3, 1971, Cobb's photo appeared in the same paper. An article from September 10, 1969 refers to Cobb as a "sophomore offensive lineman" at Abilene High School.

The wiki info for Cobb that BoxRec links to is incorrect in stating that he graduated High School in 1968.

One last piece of research: El Paso Herald Post- August 19,1975- Randall Cobb is listed as 235 pounds and 21 years of age and embarking on a pro boxing career under the management of Paul Clinite.

Regarding his ex-wife confirming 1950, in the comment section here she explicitly mentions it's 1953-12-10:
