Johnny Allan aka Allan Wensley was a welterweight contender in 1960. He had good wins over Vince Took and Graham Lightfoot but was defeat on points over twelve by Kieth Lewis in his final contest
I met him in 1979 at StMarys Band Club. I was with former Aussie champ Shane Patrick, Lou Cruz aka Rod Cooper and Des Bloyd who became a world championship judge. Wensley was from Warragamba and was a bus driver. I met him again in 1983 at the Band Club but that was last time

Shane Patrick sadly passed away in 2004 in Hong Kong at the age of 51 years. I travelled there with a mate of mine to try and see him before he passed but he unfortunately died before I arrived. I trained Shane for a few fights. Des Bloyd passed in 2013 age 79 years in Sydney. One of the true characters of Australian boxing. Not sure if Lou Cruz is still with us. He would be in his sixties now. Last I heard he was living in Taree. He was tough as nails
