The Japanese can't do other way. Either you take everything in the ring until the end or you will have to commit seppuku.

Germans and Israelis
Re: mentally hardest fighting country
The Vietnamese and the Afgans put up a great fight against adversity, used their terrain well too.

You think about it though, there's loads - the Sikhs - the Japanese were scared to death of them in the jungles of Burma in World War II and if you think of all the native peoples of the world defending their land - the Maori, the Ashanti, the Mapuche of Chile fought the Spanish for 300 years and then... took on the newly independent Chilean government...

Gets cold down there...

Koreans. I have yet to see a pro Korean boxer whose gameplan didn't consist of being harder / more insane than their opponent

I think pretty much every nation on earth is hard when needed to be.
the British showed great resolve during the blitz, despite the fact that at the time, the prospects of defeating the nazi's seemed very remote - though ironically switching attention from bombing airfields and factories producing planes, with a view to subduing the british public through civilian bombings, turned out to be the big mistake which began the roots of defeat.

They lost my vote after Afghanistan.

By and large true nationalism is dead. We live in a world of individuals. You get a full spectrum of soft to hard in every country.
The Japanese were one of the last to keep their national pride but even they have slipped.

Not easy to keep it up when nearly one-third of your population is too old to work

Surely you can't include the French in that statement and neither the Italians.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑31 Dec 2020, 13:50 I think pretty much every nation on earth is hard when needed to be.

Re: mentally hardest fighting country
i grew up in london to irish scottish parents, when i was a kid my dad drilled it into me that the irish are toughest ,then my older brother did the same, and also the irish that werent born in ireland had something more to prove so they were harder, thats why steve collins is my favourite fighter as when he beat eubank benn i give it to my jamican mates and it built on the myth , the truth is england wales the scots and irish have had some of the most truly proudest hardest fighters . i will say mexican and far east europe russia and the stan countries , its funny because if you say italian you dont make a big deal but if he is italian american from new york now he is a tough guy,the same with ireland oh micky ward irish american instantly means he is tough , funny though as mexicans see it as he is soft, mexican american ahhhh not as tough as the real mexicans like Oscar De La Hoya compared to erik morales. i think you get tough people from everywhere
