Moran v McCarthy

Post by movngroove »

During the Owen Moran v Tommy McCarthy bout at Dreamland Rink on April 29 1910, the referee was Harry Foley.

Per the April 30, 1910 SF Call: "It was not Moran's hard blow but the impact of Tommy's head against the mat which rendered him unconscious," said McCarthy's chief second Spider Kelly. McCarthy was "apparently lifeless in his corner." Three doctors attempted to revive him. McCarthy's skull fractured and he never regained consciousness. Moran and his seconds went to jail.
