Cooney would've won by SD against Holmes

Post by AngryGoon38 »

Had it been a 12 rounder and he didn't get 3 points deducted for the low blows.

Andre Ward's low-blows were just as profound against Kovolav, yet he was deducted 0 points ,and Kovolav was granted 0 time to recover, unlike Holmes vs Cooney.

Makes me wonder what's up with boxing 🤔.

Nearly 40 years ago and his career went downhill after he lost that fight to Holmes in the 13th rounds The ref saw what he saw and deducted the points for Cooney's repeated low blow.

Cooney, a one-time "great white hope" carried on sporadically — five times until his final fight, stopped by Foreman in two rounds in 1990. Three years earlier, Cooney was stopped by Michael Spinks in five rounds. He finished his career with a 28-3 record, and 24 knockouts.

Had it been 12 rounds it would have been fought differently, a fight is it’s own entity and has nothing to do with another fight especially one from a different decade with different fighters, a different referee and in a different weight division.

The judging was terrible. Holmes certainly should have been ahead on the scorecards.
A side note, why was Cooney penalized 2 points for the first low blow.

Had the fight been schedule for 12 rounds ? We will never know for sure.

The OP does not and never did care about the Holmes/Cooney result.
He's still butthurt about Kovalev failing to beat Ward and just looking for ways to whine about it.
