Yeah I thought I'd heard about this a while ago.

Poor AJ, always up and down like a yo-yo in training. Surprised he’s managed to win any pro fights at all, considering the apparent ease at which he’s consistently dropped in the gym.

He gets knocked down. But he gets up again. You are never going to keep him down...

Daniel Dubois knocked him over as well allegedly. Probably others. He seems to spar quite hard, at HW it only takes one big shot to spark you so i'd bet a lot of HW's have been dropped in sparring.

I don’t read anything into fighters getting dropped in sparring. If you spar hard it’s gonna happen especially with the big boys

Never really got the fuss about a fighter being dropped in sparring. All that matters is what happens on the night.

I can't say I am an expert, but I would have thought the fact that someone like Joshua fights about 20 rounds a year in the ring and - well I don't know how many, but a much higher number - in sparring, some of the time when he probably won't really be as focused as he ought to be, would make this fairly unsurprising. If Joshua had to fight 10 rounds every day with his last 5 pro opponents I'm sure he would go down a lot of times, although not as many as them.

If you ain’t getting pushed hard in sparring then your not getting sparring of a high enough quality.

Exactly and we have only seen him dropped by 2 opponents and wobble another. You dont win the titles he has won if you have a dicky chin.

Yeah, you hear about fighters sparring 2 or 3 fighters at a time, with them swapping between rounds so the opponent is always fresh.
It is easy to imaging a top fighter gassing and getting clipped by a freshly rested sparring partner under these circumstances.

Smart move from Joey.

Keeps the rumours circulating whilst not giving him a reputation as a big mouth.

Sparring is about learning. In sparring you try out new techniques and better your weaknesses. Ego should be left at the door.

Nothing to see here.

I think AJ has actually said he has been dropped in sparring twice, this was in the lead up to facing Parker where Higgins was saying Parker had never been dropped amateur pro or sparring.

AJ and Hearn said he’d been dropped Once by David Price and one other time but it wasn’t Okolie or Dubois or the people being linked at that time.

I’m sure I read about someone claiming he’d dropped Golovkin in sparring a few years ago, but can’t remember who and no idea if true.
