Różański vs Szpilka in Bridgerweight WBC World Title eliminator? What a joke!

Post by aicheligad »

According to news and rumours here, it seems likely that this fight is going to be an eliminator for the World Title in the new category, Possibly the worst world title eliminator ever. Hope that this category is not going to last for a long time.

Problem with WBC is that they are slow to admit their mistakes. They essentially created a Tyson Fury excluded everyone else welcome weightclass by setting the weight limit way too high.

Come on WBC make something good out of this.

Is Boxrec going to recognise the weight class and/or the belts in any way?

Why even discuss it? As Boxing fans we should all universally disregard the WBC altogether. We should disregard the WBA too.

There is the The #1 ranked guy or The Lineal Champion. Frankly we don't need the IBF or WBO, but at least they haven't gone as far with their nonsense as the other 2 orgs.

When I first became a Boxing fan in 2002. The Ring Magazine didn't even recognize The WBO as a major Championship. Don't know why we ever started.

Perhaps the same reason we started to recognize the WBC, because WBA was getting ridiculous. Then the same reason we recognized IBF, because WBA and WBC got ridiculous. I respect IBF more than any other sanctioning body, but they don’t always have the best champ. Agree with you that recognizing lineal/RING champ is the way to go in terms of the “champ.” Everyone else, as Montero likes to say, is a “belt holder.” I can get behind that.

I’ve been getting into UFC lately, and I can begin to see its appeal more and more. Each division has a clear cut champ, and that person regularly defends it. There’s something nice about it. The top ten fighters have to compete regularly to get in line for a shot, and there’s not much chicanery from what I can tell. I know it wasn’t always this way. I remember when I started watching combat sports I was into UFC and Brock Lesnar was champ after like two fights...

Wish boxing could have that, but I don’t support a league format necessarily. The sport is too big and too global for that. I don’t have the solution, but it’s not more divisions and more belts.

That being said I love to watch boxing, and if there’s a good fight at bridgerweight I’m probably watching it. I watch good fights at cruiser and constructively what is really the difference?

I'll never watch a Bridgerweight fight. It's a disgrace to the sports Legacy.
