someone on another forum pointed out that when jordy gill looked a bit troubled by the tough hombre cesar juarez, he got himself more time by intentionally missing a wild punch and falling to the canvas in the process, which led to a whole resetting. now, i dunno if that was gill's actual mindset, but tbh it would be a smart thing to do if he needed some time

what about others?

-end a round busy in the last few seconds, the action in the last part will be the freshest in the judges minds

-foul your opponent, and know where the refs blind spots are and work within the limits of the warnings. just cuz shots aren't counted as legal doesnt mean they dont wear an opponent down or frustrate them

-if you sense straight away you are cut, go in punching with your head forward, do an exaggerted 'f@ck we clashed heads" reaction, then try to sell that it was from the butt

agree.....i think sometimes it's an ego thing as well ....some guys see it as being weak.

also inivitably some guys have on their mind that it will become a 10-8 round, so they try to stay on their feet for a 10-9 instead and they dont appreciate the potential long term benefits of it
