Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Kell Brook - Who wins?

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Kell Brook is Being Explored, Says Hearn

Promoter Eddie Hearn is exploring a potential catch-weight fight between Kell Brook and Chris Eubank Jr.

Brook has been out of the ring since a crushing four round knockout loss to WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford in November of last year.

After competing at junior middleweight and middleweight, Brook squeezed down for his first welterweight fight in three years.

Eubank Jr. has been away a lot longer. He was last seen in the ring in December 2019, in a fight that only lasted two rounds - as he captured the WBA interim-middleweight title when Matt Korobov was unable to continue due to injury.

Last year, Eubank announced that he signed a promotional agreement with Kalle Sauerland of Team Sauerland.

"I’m talking to Kalle Sauerland about doing something with [Kell Brook] and Eubank, and I just felt there’s history there," Hearn told Behind The Gloves.

Back in 2016, Hearn was the promoter of Eubank.

He tried to finalize a middleweight title fight between Eubank and Gennadiy Golovkin.

The negotiations fell apart, because Hearn was unable to reach an agreement on the financial terms with Eubank and his team.

Once Eubank was out - Brook stepped in and made a two weight jump to 160-pounds.

In a gusty effort, Brook was stopped in five rounds when Golovkin fractured his orbital bone.

Because of what happened, Hearn believes there is some history between the two.

"Kell took the Golovkin fight, and they had some beef back talk. I think Kell must move to 154 if he’s to carry on. Eubank, of course, is at 160. It’s just a random fight that I quite liked. Then Eubank came out in the media and said, ‘That would be a good warm-up fight, a tune-up.’ Kell sort of responded, you know," Hearn said.

Perfect fight for Eubank, Brook is a name, good money, Brook is also past his peak, too small and not strong enough

Brook is a one of the most suicidal boxers today. Challenged Golovkin, after what took on Spence. Both battered him quite hard. Now, after being battered by Crawford, he's gonna face another bigger hard-hitting guy.

Who knows, but it will be a nice payday all the same

Also remember often the reason fighters continue or come back is because they miss the limelight, it's not only about the cash

Has Brook even fought a decent 154 pounder?

Instead he’s either killing himself to make 147 or fighting guys at 160.

If Brook needs a cash out and is gonna be back fighting on Matchroom cards then he needs to be in With Liam Smith or Jessie Vargas at 154.

Less cash! He’s already cashed out anyway. A few times!

A lot of posters focusing on Brook, but IMO this is a yet another mis-step in the handling of Eubank Jr's career if it goes ahead - the guy is 32 in a few months and has spent way too much time treading water. This is a backward step rather than a forward one given that Brook is both smaller and shot.

Depends what Eubanks real goal is. He has already earned millions without really stepping up into world class.
I guess brook will earn him another couple of million, he prob wouldn't get that much more for Canelo.

has he really earned millions tho? I would personally doubt that. sure he's had a few good paydays, but i'd be amazed if he's earned millions.

i can't see ITV paying him loads to fight the ancient AA. groves and degale..... i can't see them being MONSTER six figure paydays. BJS I suppose....
