Much less weight divisions.

Post by Winter king »

I was thinking about these minimal weight and below lightweight fighters and I have to say I just cant take a 40-55 kilo man seriously as a fighter. Sry but if a welterweight towers over you and beats you because he is bigger you dont belong in the ring. I would rather have 3 weight divisons. one up to 70kg one up to 90kg and one heavyweight. I fyou are 50kilos and your skill is so superb you can fight with 70kilo guys and win I respect that. But littleboy sized guys acting like an alpha for beating up other little boy sized guys while someone who is 5kilos heavier beats you well why should anybody watch you fight? Manny pacquio could do it for etc.

Sorry, but I think it would be fewer weight divisions.

We need more than 3, but definitely less than 18.

Wow glad you’re not in charge of boxing! Some of the best fights in history have been produced by the smaller divisions, doesn’t sound like you’ve been following the game for long so here’s a few fights for you to look up on YouTube that may educate you a tad-
Hamed V Kelley
Morales v Barrera
Fenech v Nelson
Carbajal v Gonzales
Quigora v Akeem
Marquez v Pacquiao
Ingle v Jones
Gonzales v Estrada
Inoue v Donaire

I could go on all day so let me know if you get through them and I’ll post some more, and remember... a boxing fan that has no time for Salvador Sanchez is not really a boxing fan at all.

I don't think 3 weight divisions is feasible. But there should definitely be some consolidation of the lower weight classes. All these jumps from 118-122-126-130-135-140-147 are a bit pointless.

Go like 125-135-145. I don't see any reason why any adult male should fight at weights below 125lb. Below that weight is for children.

Then make LMW 155
MW- 165
LHW- 175
CW - 190
SCW - 210
HW -210+

That's 9 categories down from 18 and seems a lot better to me anyway.

Weight divisions are just fine, belts and mandatories are problem. Maybe add 6 lbs rehydratation limit to lower weights and 10 lbs rehydratation to higher weights

100% . Theres a new weight class every measly 3 ir 4 lbs in the lower midget weights. It's absurd. And there's not as many fighters who are actually in those weightclasses, a lot of countries don't even have boxers that small. Being a multi weight world champ in those lower weight divisions definitely doesn't mean as much.

Yet bizzarely the gap from light heavyweight is massive! Far too big. If there was a new weight class every 3 or 4 lbs up there guys like Maxim Vlasov and Tony Bellew would be 5 weight world champions lol.

I cant take you seriously. I dont think that you belong anywhere or deserve anything. Return your belongings from where you got them and kindly remove yourself from the face of the planet.

I pinched a nerve I beleive. I wont change my mind though. The numbers actaully show it pretty much. Way less people care about fighters below lightweight. And to me watching tiny schoolboy sized people fight is as if i watched gigantic thick guys figure skating. I mean he is far worse and obvioudly unable to be as good as a skater built for the sport but he is the best in his weight division. Honestly the farest thing would be no weight divisions. Whats the point of your mighty skills if you cant beat everybody regardless of physique. And I dont say this with malice btw I love several matches and fighters in the lower weight classes but what makes Canelo a lb to lb best if he would lose to Adam Kownacki. So many people claim here that size doesnt matter. So If your skill isnt enough to beat someone much bigger than whats the point of you being a fighter?

There is so much stupidity in your writings that I dont even know where to begin to answer them. Whats the point of being Canelo if Kownacki can beat you with size? Whats the point of being Einstein if Winter King can beat you by simply overwhelming you with his stupidity. They say that you are retarded even if you win a fight on the internet. Well sir you have won this one, now go and write your letters to state athletic commissions and ranking organizations. I'm sure that many people will listen to you.

There are too many weight classes, especially in the lower and mid areas. Here is what I'd like to see. 9 classes, this will give boxing better defined champions. Currently we have 17!

flyweight, not more than 112 pounds. Boxing should start here.
bantamweight, 118 pounds
Featherweight 122 pounds.
lightweight, 135 pounds
light welterweight 140 pounds
welterweight, 147 pounds
middleweight, 160 pounds - The enter the ring in the 170's anyway, unless you Canelo then 180's.
light heavyweight, 178 pounds
cruiser 200 pounds
Heavyweight over 200 pounds.

Now all that needs to be done is have a weight in the day of and you can't be 5% above your weight class that you are fighting in below middleweight and 3% above middleweight..

Featherweight should stay at 126.
Other then that, this is basically a relatively good weight divisional concept overall.

You say what I say is stupid but I do think its a legit question that if weight is a factor that beats you are you actaully that good? There are great boxers who beat much heavier people. If you can do that than you are great enough. Harry Greb did it Roberto Duran did it because if you are good enough size is just another factor but if you go up five pounds and you lose the magic thn whats your claim for greatness?.
I think you think im saying these with malice because of the anger of your replies but what im saying is a genuine question.

Don't worry about the so-called little boys fighting; just don't watch them.
