I had a 1 year subscription to them in 2009 or so. They didn't send me the Year End Awards issue. I had to buy it at a store, even though I got the issue that followed that.

I naturally did not renew my subscription. I would probably still buy them if I ever saw them at stores, but I don't.

Nope. I was a long time subscriber to Boxing Monthly and now subscribe to Boxing News.

Never liked The Ring as I prefer a slant towards British news and fighters and whenever I did read The Ring back in the day it was about 6 months out of date.

Yeah that’s certainly true for most news articles, li but well-written magazine articles and fight reports can offer a lot of insight. There’s a real dearth of online quality journalism for boxing, look at some of the garbage Ruthless posts (not his own posts, the ones where he rips a full page from WBN or wherever), most of the reports are terribly written, a school kid could often do better.

Having said that, I’ve not actually read Ring magazine for years. But used to be a Boxing Monthly subscriber and regularly flirt with subscribing to BN, although I tend to stick to occasional issues. But I definitely think there’s still a place for proper boxing journalism.

My Dad bought me a Ring magazine subscription one year. It previewed fights that had already happened and had some of the laziest journalism. I haven't got a copy kicking around to take the piss out of but there was a section that asked questions like the back page of Boxing News, but it was just one sentence answers. It was like, Favourite Food: Pasta. Favourite Music: Rap. Favourite Video Game: I don't play video games.

They also had Ronda Rousey on the front cover wearing an MMA glove and a boxing glove, after she'd been absolutely filled in by Holly Holme.

Pointless. A waste of paper. I can't believe Boxing Monthly, which was good, has gone under and Ring is still kicking about.
