We've got a good crop of light heavyweights at the moment, in what order does the forum rate the following :

Callum Johnson, Joshua Buatsi, Lyndon Arthur, Anthony Yarde, Dan Azeez, Chris Richards, Ricky Summers, Shakan Pitters, Liam Conroy, Hosea Burton

i'll play devil's advocate, but i think the showing vs bert is a bit overrated


bert was super wild that fight and johnson basically just caught him with 1 shot as bert recklessly went for the finish. aside from that, johnson was hurt and hit by pretty much everything bert threw. others have been much more durable and not hit nearly as easily vs berterbiev

johnson is offensively a bit of a beast but very open, and i dont know that he has the best chin for that style. markic hurt him good and i think buatsi at least would beat him, yarde might ko him too. arthur he might outwork

They are all so stagnant, tournament would be great.

Buatsi has been the next big thing for 5 years now.... but he is 28 and hasnt done shit. an olympian 5 years after the olympics at 28 with big promoter backing should either have a padded 25-0 or should have a meaningfull 15-0, buatsi has a rubbish 13-0....

Yarde and johnson both did not much then got massively over stepped and knocked out, Craig Richards is about to join them in that category.

Arthur has probably the best win between them beating yard one handed... Sure Yarde was as gunshy as a San Fran democrat, but Arthur had some real name momentum after that, unfortunately said momentum is gone.

The rest have such flourishing carrers that they hardly even give me that feeling of having read the name befor. (dosent mean much i dont really follow English light heavies to closely. but there is 10 names there. if 8 would enter a tournament id be all for it. (i imagine buatsi and yard would feel too good for it and instead fight some cab drivers)

burton lost to bolotniks becuse bolotniks is the better fighter, absilutely battered steven ward and serge michel in that tourny too, prior to that won 12-0 over sergey ekimov, who just gave umar salamov a very close fight and would prob beat some on that list

The last guy Buatsi fought was a decent test and made life hard for him at times.

Beating Liam Conroy for the British title was a solid win too.

I'd say there's more substance to Buatsi's opposition than Yarde had before challenging for a world title.

I wouldn't say no to a local derby between Buatsi v Richards

conroy is kinda ehhh....more english level in reality.did you see how michel absolutely plonkered him too

Conroy had been on a reasonable run until facing Buatsi. Conroy can punch but is vulnerable at British level, however, Buatsi looked good stopping him quickly. He was efficient and ruthless. You can't ask more of Buatsi.

You just hope after this fight Buatsi gets his momentum back and then starts chomping through meaningful opposition, learning from Yarde's mistake.

As a boxing fan I just know it will be Richards. I think I'd still take Buatsi other both the other two but he needs to be more active to convince me more about how good he can be.

It would have to be very, very big offer to get Yarde in the ring with Buatsi. Yarde made it clear in a Costello & Bunce Podcast that it would need to be a big event for him to take part (or words to that effect).
