UK Super Welters

Post by KiwiRider »

When is the new cream going to rise to the top?
Liam Smith has held the top spot for a while, and with him not taking any domestic fights in ages apart from a stay busy against Egginton - who is the potential next #1

I think the word is out on Fowler, unless he can find some pop, the top UK guys gonna walk right through him.

I haven’t seen any additional humility from Fowler despite the defeat. Fitz has had his problems but he was still not exactly disciplined from some rumours before the problems boiled over.

Cheeseman has improved a lot and arguably beat Fitz.

It’s very close and Fowler seems an obvious choice but I just think he will come unstuck.

You might not like what you see of him online but it is hardly ridiculous to suggest he would beat those other guys

Exactly!

And Liam Smith is the only one so far which has proved himself better than top domestic standard.

At the moment Cheeseman is best of the rest, he looked great in beating Metcalf and was unlucky against Fitz who obv has gone back, Fowler lost to Fitz and has had a couple of run outs since but not moved back up in class yet.

Agree. He has the best, and most varied skill set of all the guys I put in the poll.

Don't agree with that -- he's a rather basic walk straight ahead and bully the other guy fighter. often his opponents are undersized and he just clubs at them. I don't really see how he's more varied than most of those guys. he looked lost for much of the fitz fight

Fitzy is more skilled and diverse and already beat him. hell, even cheeseman has shown he can box and move a bit in addition to slugging, and i thought he did better vs fitz than fowler did

fowler really hasnt accomplished much at all as a pro, pretty much every other guy in that list has a more meaningful result than him, and he's actually lost to one of those guys, but there remains this prevalent idea that he's actually the top

Think Fowler beats Cheeseman but falls short of the next level, got to wonder if Fitz can even make 154 anymore

I like Fitzgerald, think he's useful when he's fit and switched on but whether he truly gets his $hit together again remains to be seen, as said above making light middle is another question mark too.

Good opportunity for Conway at the weekend on the Canelo undercard, big chance to show what he can do in front of a large audience.
