I first met Paul Moore at the fights at Blacktown RSL in 1979. He had been retired a few years. Paul told me he had just moved to live in Blacktown with his wife Arlene and was looking for somewhere to train
I told him i had a gym in StMarys about 20 minutes drive away. He said I will see you tomorrow. About 9am next morning he is knocking on my door. He says “ Are you ok to do a few rounds? I agreed and gloved him up and we went three willing rounds in my backyard. Luckily he had been drinking the night before and wasn’t at his best but he came to do his best. That was the start of our friendship and we seen a lot of each other. He worked for an armoured van company and knocked on my door with van out the front of my house. His offsider in the van was an old school friend of mine which was a coincidence. I was there when Paul made his debut as a referee and when I made a comeback he was the referee in Dapto. I last seen him in Melbourne in 2012. Great memories

Re: Paul Moore
Paul and his wife owned a nice restaurant at Lane Cove that was very popular before working for armoured van company and then becoming a baggage handler with Qantas. Paul would later manage hotels including the Sly Fox at Enmore where one of the regulars was Wally Carr.
