Is Spence HOF'er right now?

Post by world ranked »

This is a question as for his resume as of right now prior to Pacquaio or anything else going forward. I'm not looking for
what he going to do going forward. Please don't answer if he beats etc, etc. I'm speaking as of you seeing this thread.

Garcia, Porter and Garcia are good enough wins for me . Lamont Peterson was on solid streak too and beating Brook in his hometown also counts a bit despite he was after GGG beating. Somewhat borderline of HoF i think

Very tricky one. Is he the best current lower weight boxer to never move up?

I like Spence, but... don't you want Halls of Fame to be pretty selective?

I'd say he has a bit to go to be HOF worthy. Needs that one defining fight at the very least.

I'm shocked at the more no's. Brook, both Danny & Mikey Garcia, Porter, Peterson. 5 solid A/B+ wins.

that is hardly a lock for hof resume

keith thurman beat danny and porter before spence did, beat plenty of other recognizable names too. is he close to hof?

Two more matches of his usual caliber and he can comfortably be.

btw i need to see more from mikey at 147 to really be wow impressed by spence beating him, i thought he lost 5 rounds to jesse f@cking vargas. mikey used to campaign at 126 and was flabby and laughably outsized. the fight was totally bizarre and hardly anyone had been talking about it before it came out of nowhere---because it simply wasn;t a 'natural' matchup

looks like a little chubby kid next to errol, if you saw these dudes being put in the same cell, you'd be feeling sorry for little mike

I think he should go to 154 to get Charlo fight. Both are with PBC, where is the problem?

From memory they are mates and stablemates. Spar each other regularly. Not saying it can’t happen e.g. Danny JAcobs dervenchenko. But harder to make,

Are people pretending the standards for induction into the IBHoF have been lowered to a champion only needing to perform five title defences?

How many other former world champs did Thurman beat compared to Spence. What other recognizable names have Thurman beat?

Errol Spence Jr’s (former/current) world champion opposition = Chris Algieri, Kell Brook, Lamont Peterson, Mikey Garcia, Shawn Porter & Danny Garcia.

Keith Thurman’s (former:current) world champion opposition = Carlos Quintana, Jan Zaveck, Julio Diaz, Robert Guerrero, Luis Collazo, Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia and Manny Pacquiao.

I would say god no, but the hall of fame is so US and 147 centric centric the last few years he'd probably be a first ballot entry... whilst the likes of Moon, Arbachakov, Benn, Chitalada, Laciar, John, etc miss out year after year.

Yea true, great example of a single weight all time great.
I often think people put to much hype into multi weight champs, they assume that means they are moving up and giving away a weight advantage, but that’s rarely true.
Crawford for example, excellent fighter, is a 3 or 4 weight champ, but has he ever been significantly smaller? Mabey a lb or 2 vs horn and Brook, mabey. Through his career he has definatly averaged been heavier than his opponent rather than the other way round..

Definitely not. Beat Pac, Crawford and win a title at 154 then yes.

Nope, neither are HOF. Thurman more than likely never, and if Spence keeps sitting on the shelf twiddling his thumbs through his prime- he ain't making it either
