Shannon Courtenay wants to fight at Watford's Vicarage Road
Shannon Courtenay wants to fight at Watford's Vicarage Road
World bantamweight champion Shannon Courtenay has said she wants to be the first boxer to fight at Watford's Vicarage Road.
The champ, who comes from Abbots Langley, is expected to announce the first defence of her world title very soon, as she looks to take the next step in her career.
She claimed the belt with a unanimous decision victory over Ebanie Bridges at the beginning of last month, after which she told the Watford Observer unification was now her aim.
While her next fight is expected to be at a more conventional venue, the 'babyface assassin' has her eyes on a fight at the Vic in the future.
Answering questions from her fans on Instagram, she said that competing at Vicarage Road would top fighting at even Wembley Stadium or Vegas.
Asked about her dream venue, she responded: "Would love to fight in Vegas & Wembley but the dream is to be the first person to fight at Vicarage Road the Watford Stadium".

I first saw a title reading 'Waford World champion'... I thought, surely can't be Joshua

she sure lucked out didnt she, rando female boxer who had just started boxing gets put on sky from start of her career even when fighting nobodies, takes a loss but at 6-1 or something then fights for a world title right after, basically gotten constant promotion and media work done on her. you hear about how hard a game boxing is, but this is like the total opposite.
someone must really really like her, is she adam smith's sidepiece or something

Does she mean on the pitch or do they have a little gym that they could put a ring in?

Majority stadiums have and use their banqueting suites.mickey1975 wrote: ↑26 May 2021, 08:38They'll have a banqueting suite. The one at Elland Road regularly puts on pro shows.
Bolton, Villa, Leeds, a few other regulars.

I did some of my university exams at the main suite at Ashton Gate in Bristol. I’d be surprised if Shannon could fill a venue that size let alone a football stadium.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑26 May 2021, 08:56Majority stadiums have and use their banqueting suites.mickey1975 wrote: ↑26 May 2021, 08:38They'll have a banqueting suite. Elland Road isn't small. Maybe 1500-2000.maverick23 wrote: ↑26 May 2021, 10:42I did some of my university exams at the main suite at Ashton Gate in Bristol. Ah right. That’s a decent size. Ashton Gate could get 1,000 in. Whether it’s 1,000 or 2,000 - Shannon’s not selling that many tickets!mickey1975 wrote: ↑26 May 2021, 10:51Elland Road isn't small. I'm sure Eddie's DAZN viewers can't wait for it, if BJS can do Stevenage FC then she can do Watford
Re: Shannon Courtenay wants to fight at Watford's Vicarage Road
Agree with that. I had a work Christmas party at the same place. Not sure you'd get too many fans in there (With a ring, 500 at most with very little space to spare) but then again, not sure many fans would go to see a Courtenay headlined card.maverick23 wrote: ↑26 May 2021, 10:42I did some of my university exams at the main suite at Ashton Gate in Bristol. They sell 1,000 for music/theatre - would probably be more like 750 for boxing I think.joshj909 wrote: ↑26 May 2021, 11:17Agree with that. I had a work Christmas party at the same place. Most of those venues put the VIP tables ringside with a 3 course meal and waiter service.

Yeah I’ve been to a fair few corporate gigs at the Cardiff stadium. Surprisingly spacious actually, could well imagine a small boxing event taking place there. Sounds like most modern stadiums are similar.

I attended a few boxing events under the dolman stand at Ashton gate. Haskins, Darren dorrington and Dean Francis. Nice intimate venue.maverick23 wrote: ↑26 May 2021, 11:12Ah right. On the topic of Watford, my dad and uncle got a good hiding while there following Bristol city years ago, so Sharon wont be the first.

When she retires from boxing she'd make a great character on EastEnders, playing her self
Re: Shannon Courtenay wants to fight at Watford's Vicarage Road
Pat and Shirley are both better looking

They could have Barry from Eastenders as her former trainer.
